This part of the letter to the Hebrews is a reminder that the original covenant that God had made with the Israelites was not a perfect law. It was not perfect because it did not contain any method of redemption.

True, but it did provide a method of sanctification.

In Romans 4:3, Galatians 3:6, and James 2:23 we read that "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.".

Christ fulfilled the covenant through his vicarious death, resurrection, and ascension.

Hebrews 9:15-17

15For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

16In the case of a will,[a] it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it, 17because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living.
