More push polling. Wonderful. Shouldn’t this be in the Religion Forum?

Typical, when people refuse to believe one myth, come up with another or change the original to something the gulible will swallow.

The BOM is not historical - to say the least.

Well, that is kind of a whacky thing to belielve.

OTOH, John Browning was a Mormon.

So Mormons have done more good than bad for America.

You wrote:

Do you really think they would have been less useful if they were Protestant?

I posted this for historic and archaeological discussion. Try to keep the LDS bashing off the thread

Change the introduction, yeah, that’s the ticket!

The Mandan Tribe of North Dakota had some interesting beliefs that were Biblical in Nature. They predate the Book of Mormon and can be read at:

Yeah, and Muslims gave us the guitar and algebra (something about blind squirrels comes to mind). Intelligence is not the monopoly of any religion.

A good recent article on the initial settling of the Americas:

Beringian Standstill and Spread of Native American Founders, by Erika Tamm, et al. (2007).

I’m still waiting for an LDS person to give a plausible reason for the BOM to have been written in King James English.

Puh-leeze! This trotting out of the ever-changing “most correct book ever written” crap is a laugh. Mor_ons need to get a clue, and a grip, and realize they fell, hook, line, and sinker, for a complete load of horse$hit.

He see the myth of Quetzequatl, the white god who appeared in the Americas, as a possible link to the Book of Mormon tale of Jesus Christ appearing in the New World after his resurrection.

Just to pick out an obvious error in his thinking;

Jesus was a Hebrew of direct linage to King David. He may have been of slightly paler complexion than the Maya but in no way could they have considered him white.

Jesus was not a Caucasian.

It is LDS-bashing and wrong to attack Mormons as people.

It is not LDS bashing to read this thread through and once again conclude that the BOM is utter poppycock.

Oh, and check out what the D&C says about the Catholic church. “Great abominable whore of Babylon” and all that.

I would hope you wouldn't discredit the entire belief systems across North America and South America. There are many stories describing Jesus there.
John 10:16 "I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with one shepherd.

Jews are, generally speaking, Caucasion, as are almost all Arabic speaking people. Sometimes folks confound "Caucasion" with Northern and Western European ~ they aren't really identical in meaning.

In fact, Northern Europeans ~ and I mean REALLY, REALLY, REALLY far Northern Europeans are NOT the same as their tropical cousins South of the Arctic circle. Lots of serious genetic differences there Fur Shur.

“I’m still waiting for an LDS person to give a plausible reason for the BOM to have been written in King James English.”

Better yet, a real answer to why there is ZERO archaeological evidence to support the claims made in the BOM.
