I’ll just repeat something a Freeper (name not recalled) said in so
many words on a previous “church music” thread:

“Any church song composed after 1965 is crap.”

Not exactly my opinion...but not far wide of the mark.

(no flames please...I do know that “there is no disputing of opinions”,
we all have our personal likes and dislikes)

Lord of the Dance gets sung all the time at my parish. I think it’s a Shaker traditional song. It stinks. A few times it was even played (on piano of course) during Holy Communion. I cannot think of a more vapid tune...

I think you have your date wrong, I'd say most after 1865.....

Yet another super WRONG translation.

1. Said nothing per se about anyone’s FAITH in Christ.

2. My comment was strictly about the evidently derisive, caustic, hostile comment about dancing in worship.

3. Further, that IF one were derisive about ANYTHING

HOLY SPIRIT WAS FOSTERING—INCLUDING DANCING IN WORSHIP

THEN

THAT

would be corrosive to one’s walk with God.

###########

I’m skeptical that my translation of myself will aid understanding much at all but at least there’s now another chance at getting an interpretation correct.

I do, however,

bow humbly before

vastly superior bashingness.

No matter the cut-off date...
every era has stinker songs (sacred and otherwise) that survive.
Inexplicably! (of course, that's my own personal tastes talkin'!)

“Anti-Christian website. Don’t bother.”

IMHO (and very fallible, I might add), this looks more like the
Internet imitation of “The Wittenburg Door”, a satire magazine written
by Christians about the foibles of high-profile Christians and
Christians “movements”.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Door_(satirical_Christian_magazine)

Like “The Wittenburg Door”, I suspect “The Holy Observer” gets the
same spectrum of responses: from loud laughter to condemnation
as the work of heretics.

+++++++++++++++++++

nothing stops you from bashing my faith. Are not you in favor of that “do unto others” thing.

I know it is not a hymn. but this is a Christmas song.

‘Deck the Halls’ talks about ‘Don we now our gay apparel’,and since men who sleep with men have changed the word gay from talking about being happy to talking about living their life stile. We need to somehow change it so no one, like children, will not get the wrong idea of our beliefs.

Not for me. Anyone or anything bashing God-praising hymns is anti-Christian to me. Y’all have fun. I think it’s disgusting, but to each his own. [shrugs]

Oh, certainly.

I love many things about my church, but traditionally reverent liturgy, we don’t have.

Maybe we could sing, “Don we now our gray apparel.”

Do you take requests? I’d love to see you skewer “Pass It On”, one of the most treacly saccharine songs ever.

“Softly and Tenderly.” If it sounds like a lullaby it has to go.
