No. Nor do we invent glorious stories of his reign. How do generations learn about previous generations? Only through history books? Nothing orally passed down through family or friends? Why should Christianity be different? Do you think God just stopped everything once the bible was written and said, "That's all, folks!"?

What contemporary, or nearly contemporary, history books are there in existance concerning the ministry and role of Peter in Rome?
"Tradition" is meaningless as history.
