You are being ‘pinged’ because I have seen your heart for prayer on one or more recent Free Republic prayer threads. This thread is for those interested in worshipping and praying for those who support our troops and our troops themselves. If this is of interest to you, please read on. I have only been blessed to be part of the FR community for a few months. I was drawn to get involved by the prayers I saw posted in a prayer thread for a wounded Marine last August who was not expected to survive. (BTW, he not only survived by the power of prayer, but is still recuperating.)
In September 2007 I came to Washington D.C. from my home in Northern California at the invitation of a FReeper active in the D.C. Chapter. One of the reasons I was coming was to bring a song the Lord had had me compose and record (full story at www.holyspiritpress.org/standup.html) to support our troops and encourage our nation to support them even though I am a housewife and mother – not a professional singer (you can listen to the song at www.youtube.com/user/ascendinworship )
The Lord made it clear I was to make the trip even though at the time He had not yet revealed all the reasons why. I knew I was to bring copies of the CD to give our wounded at Walter Reed, as well as to stand with GOE at a press conference to support Petraeus on Captiol Hill, to walk with other GOE members through the halls of Congress and to hand out copies of STAND UP in the various congressional offices to encourage a vote to continue to fund the War On Terror. In addition, I was to visit the wounded Marine who at that point still lay in a coma and to worship and pray with his family in his room at Bethesda for his healing.
However, as the plane began its descent to land at Dulles airport in D.C. I felt like the Lord whispered a message to me and I wrote it down. In part it said, “You are going behind enemy lines to bring ME and MY encouragement, hope and covering (through the addition of prayer and worship to their activism) to those who tirelessly fight My fight, but in their own power. Most of these are in their own power right now. Bring them to ME. Teach them to seek, listen and rely on Me, so I can impart the strategy, the only strategy which will defeat the enemy – MINE…I will send you the prayer warriors. Link the prayer warriors – the intercessors and worshippers…wit the activists…Show them how it has always been – praisers lead into battle. Worship is rewarded by release of the supernatural strategy which WILL lead to victory.
Since that September 2007 D.C. trip, one D.C. Chapter Freeper and I have indeed prayed almost every single Friday by phone to cover planned D.C. Chapter activities for that night at Walter Reed and the weekend in prayer. We also pray regularly for the recovery of our wounded warriors and for a growing faith base in our country (because though we support our troops and those who support them, we also understand God’s overriding objective in all things on earth is to restore as many as will come back to Him for all eternity!) This young lady and I will likely continue our coast-to-coast weekly prayer. However, God has now laid on my heart that it is time to broaden the worship and prayer cover for the activities of those who support our troops, our wounded warriors, our deployed troops and their families.
I believe the many of the prayer warriors He would have participate are right here on Free Republic. I believe you will know who you are.
Please pray if you are called to join in united worship and prayer for those who support our troops and our military. (And please ‘ping’ anyone else you believe He might be calling to get involved.)
The power of our worship and prayers cannot be underestimated. Surely for those who are called it is as important as physically being present at the event. And while many of us would like to participate physically and tangibly in as many as the troop-supporting events as possible, this worship/prayer can be done anyplace, anytime – including at the events OR from home! It is vital and critical work and it is an honor to be called to it!!
As you all know, God’s first command is that we have no other gods before Him. Re-phrased, this means He commands us to worship Him alone. To worship is to bow down before something or someone because it is “worth” bowing down to. God is only One worthy of our worship. God is unchanging. How He was is how He is. He is also Truth, which by definition means He cannot lie. God promises to fulfill His promises, therefore we can expect Him to fulfill His promises for us just as He has done in every generation past, including in the stories of the Old and New Testaments. When we obey His command to worship, God promises to draw near.
Heaven is our model. In heaven, worship and intercession occur without ceasing: Angels and those who have gone before are constantly worshipping before the throne of God; Jesus is simultaneously worshipped and is interceding on our behalf at the right hand of the Father. Jesus taught us to pray: Our Father who is in heaven; holy is Your name; Your kingdom, come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
The idea is for the remnant of His faithful on earth to create an atmosphere of worship, adoration and intercession which puts Him first (thus fulfilling ‘if my people who are called by my Name will humble themselves, seek My face and pray’, then He will restore our land 2 Chron 7:13)
God and His power are inseparable. It is part of who He is. Thus where He is present, so is His power. The objective through our united worship is to cause God to release a cloud of His glory which fills the atmosphere of this country, the battlefields of the War on Terror and ultimately the world. This will enable there to be results from the work done by the activists who support our troops to confound the world’s experts. Our troops and their supporters will not only be blessed by the manifestation of God’s supernatural in unexpected ways into their natural, but – even more importantly – the reality of God will be revealed to more people as well.
Are you called to be part of this worship and prayer cover for those who support our troops? This is the initial idea of how it will look (subject to change as things develop). The thread is to be ongoing. (Is that possible? Please tell me how to do it if it is not….) Periodically, as He leads, I will post a prayer He has had me write down as I pray it. You will be ‘pinged’. You are then responsible to respond only as He leads. For instance sometimes you may post a public response (it may be as simple as ‘prayers up’ or another prayer); you may post your own prayer to the thread and ping us; you may lurk and not let anyone know you are praying but pray in one accord; you may at times be called not to participate at all. The prayers posted can be intercession – asking/beseeching for something in particular – or worship – simply adoring Him in words for who He is what He does, what He’s done and what He definitely will do. The postings can be for a particular activism event someone is aware of or in general. DO AS THE HOLY SPIRIT LEADS.

Good morning! Certainly there are many praying for those out there with “boots on the ground” today and tomorrow. As part of the prayer and worship cover we will pray together here online, so those who are called can join in one accord.
Let’s pray:
Lord God, You are Master of the Universe. All things are in Your power. You are Love. You are Mercy. You are forgiveness. You are Redeemer, Sanctifier, and Lamb of God Who takes away the sins of the world. Your sole desire is that all would turn and seek You as King - Lord and Savior - that they might dwell with You in eternity. Lord God there is a spiritual battle raging here on earth which You allow to give us clear choice. Lord God, we see manifestations of this battle in the choices of individuals and their attitude and actions here on earth.
Lord God, You as Mighty Warrior King and Lord of the armies, have called an army of patriots to Washington, D.C.and the surrounding area this weekend to honor our military, their families and our fallen. Lord God, they come in the name of love to stand in opposition to those who come in the name of hate, anger and dishonor.
Lord God, anger, hate, dishonor are not fruit of Your Spirit. These are signs that what the opposition is about is NOT Your work.
Lord God You are Truth and You are Supreme to any tactics of the enemy. Show Yourself Sovereign and as the Almighty God that You are this weekend in these events. Manifest Your power in a way that all will know which side You are on. Cause the “cause” dear to Your heart to be magnified in way which all will know this is by Your power and no one else’s - that it could only be by the Supreme supernatural power (our Most High Lord!!!).
Lord God, commission Your angels to be present and standing guard. By Your power and perfect will cause these angels to become a supernatural shield of Your protection around those who support our troops. You say in Psalm 5 that Your favor surrounds us as a shield. We ask for this this weekend for the leadership of the support - the - troop activities...
Lord God, You most frequently operate in a way which is unexpected and unanticipated. You operate in a way which the world’s wisdom says can’t work, doing what is considered impossible so all will know You are God. Do impossible work this weekend in D.C. Lord God. Reveal Yourself. Bless those who came in the name of Your love.
Lord God, we ask also that You would temper any wrong-rooted attitudes, such as anger - even if the root of the anger is righteous. Give those who support the troops extreme self-control, both those who know You and those who do not. Commission by Your will and Your power those who stand for our troops to stand firm and strong, but let them not stoop to the tactics of the enemy in how they express their strong feelings. You have drawn them to this place Lord for such a time as this. Let everything they do reflect Your banner over them! Forgive those who do not know You yet and act in a way which is not of You. Help those who do lead by God-honoring example that Your covering can be with them wherever they go this weekend. (They will know we are Christians by our Love...)
Let this weekend wrought things in the spiritual realm way beyond anything we would ever ask for or imagine. Let it all be for Your glory, according to Your plan. We wait in joyful expectation for word regarding how You have moved. We expect to be amazed and surprised.
Keep them all healthy and safe. Provide exactly the weather which is perfect for Your purposes.
Lord God, we thank you in advance for how we know You will move on a multiplicity of levels as only You as God can. Yes, we thank You for what we can see, and that which You are doing which we cannot. We know it will all be good when measured in light of eternity. Thank you for being an approachable God. We adore You. Bow before you. Thank you for being a God and King who allows us to enter Your throne room and who hears our prayers. We commit to worship and intercede until report comes back of what Your unfailing love and perfect will have accomplished. In Jesus’ name, Amen

and Lord, I praise You that at FR we have a forum under Jim’s headship that recognizes Your headship and sovereignty, and that among Harry Riley, Larry Bailey, Melanie Morgan, Deborah Johns and many other leaders we have others who do likewise, in this One Nation Under God.
Let us stand firm on Your promises, let us know that the battle is not ours but the Lord’s, let us know that the WAR is won—though the fleshly battles continue for a season.
Let not our hearts be troubled, let us be bold and very couragoues. “The wicked flee when noone is chasing, but the Godly are bold as lions.”
I pray for the souls of those who put on a bold face. Let them hear the Still Small Voice of Your Holy Spirit calling them to repentance, telling them to put their hands over their mouths in shame, and for those many who foolishly will not repent...
...let others perceive their hatred and evil, and be revulsed and in their own hearts glorify You and stand strong for a nation that stands for You, in Jesus’ Mighty Name, amen.

Amen to prayers for our troops!
This coming week a number of troops are coming home after deployment to Twenty-Nine Palms. Lord God, we thank You for each and every one in these companies. We thank You for their faithful service. We ask that You would bless them as they return and bless their families. Bless their reunions. Iron out and make smooth transition to life back in the States. Where what they have experienced could lead to “PTSD”, we say ‘no’, in Jesus’ name. We stand in the authority we have in Your Name as adopted children of the King and say, Lord Jesus Christ bring them more of Yourself for YOU are the answer to any and all distress which would manifest as backlash in our troops. The enemy will NOT mess any more with their minds. Be their Protector, Provider in all ways. And enable them to know how much we appreciate their service!!! In Jesus’ name, Amen
Never before in the history of this Nation has prayer for this Nation and it’s defenders and supporters been more neccessary. The Sprit of America that is the greatness of America has, I believe, contracted to a degree that is truly frightening.

The National Heroes Tour by Vets For Freedom also launches in San Diego today and then will proceed across the country until culminating in Vets on the Hill in D.C. to lobby Congress to fund the troops to fight to victory on 4/8...

Lord God, we also remember to You the Vets For Freedom National Heroes Tour launching today in San Diego. Lord God, these men and women have already sacrificed for our freedom and now continue to. Bless this effort! Bring the people so that the USS Midway is overflowing with those who support our troops. Cause our current troops to be mightily blessed by what they experience through this tour. Lord God, let the Truth of Your plan be revealed through this tour as it moves cross country. Lord God, be with this tour. Guide and protect them. Cause it to be a smashing success with more media coverage than ever anticipated. Cause all of these troop-supporting efforts by so many individuals and groups across the country to have a mighty impact. Cause the country at large to begin to better understand and support our troops and their mission through all of these events. Use them all for your glory, Lord! In Jesus’ name, Amen
Agreed. But I believe God is raising up a Gideon army which He will empower to take back the land His way and HOW He enables it will give an incredible story to tell which will reveal Him in all the Truth of who He is. We who believe already know God partners with us to send His power out His supernatural way through our prayers and worship. So yes, prayer and worship are critical for such a time as this.
