Are You Called to Provide Worship & Prayer Cover For Those Who Support Our Troops & Our Military

You are being ‘pinged’ because I have seen your heart for prayer on one or more recent Free Republic prayer threads. This thread is for those interested in worshipping and praying for those who support our troops and our troops themselves. If this is of interest to you, please read on. If not, send me a private note to be removed from future ‘pings’. (I apologize I don’t know how to put a link for Add/Remove into my posts yet.)

I have only been blessed to be part of the FR community for a few months. I was drawn to get involved by the prayers I saw posted in a prayer thread for a wounded Marine last August who was not expected to survive. (BTW, he not only survived by the power of prayer, but is still recuperating.)

In September 2007 I came to Washington D.C. from my home in Northern California at the invitation of a FReeper active in the D.C. Chapter. One of the reasons I was coming was to bring a song the Lord had had me compose and record (full story at www.holyspiritpress.org/standup.html) to support our troops and encourage our nation to support them even though I am a housewife and mother – not a professional singer (you can listen to the song at www.youtube.com/user/ascendinworship )

The Lord made it clear I was to make the trip even though at the time He had not yet revealed all the reasons why. I knew I was to bring copies of the CD to give our wounded at Walter Reed, as well as to stand with GOE at a press conference to support Petraeus on Captiol Hill, to walk with other GOE members through the halls of Congress and to hand out copies of STAND UP in the various congressional offices to encourage a vote to continue to fund the War On Terror. In addition, I was to visit the wounded Marine who at that point still lay in a coma and to worship and pray with his family in his room at Bethesda for his healing.

However, as the plane began its descent to land at Dulles airport in D.C. I felt like the Lord whispered a message to me and I wrote it down. In part it said, “You are going behind enemy lines to bring ME and MY encouragement, hope and covering (through the addition of prayer and worship to their activism) to those who tirelessly fight My fight, but in their own power. Most of these are in their own power right now. Bring them to ME. Teach them to seek, listen and rely on Me, so I can impart the strategy, the only strategy which will defeat the enemy – MINE…I will send you the prayer warriors. Link the prayer warriors – the intercessors and worshippers…wit the activists…Show them how it has always been – praisers lead into battle. Worship is rewarded by release of the supernatural strategy which WILL lead to victory.

Since that September 2007 D.C. trip, one D.C. Chapter Freeper and I have indeed prayed almost every single Friday by phone to cover planned D.C. Chapter activities for that night at Walter Reed and the weekend in prayer. We also pray regularly for the recovery of our wounded warriors and for a growing faith base in our country (because though we support our troops and those who support them, we also understand God’s overriding objective in all things on earth is to restore as many as will come back to Him for all eternity!) This young lady and I will likely continue our coast-to-coast weekly prayer. However, God has now laid on my heart that it is time to broaden the worship and prayer cover for the activities of those who support our troops, our wounded warriors, our deployed troops and their families.

I believe the many of the prayer warriors He would have participate are right here on Free Republic. I believe you will know who you are.

Please pray if you are called to join in united worship and prayer for those who support our troops and our military. (And please ‘ping’ anyone else you believe He might be calling to get involved.)

The power of our worship and prayers cannot be underestimated. Surely for those who are called it is as important as physically being present at the event. And while many of us would like to participate physically and tangibly in as many as the troop-supporting events as possible, this worship/prayer can be done anyplace, anytime – including at the events OR from home! It is vital and critical work and it is an honor to be called to it!!

As you all know, God’s first command is that we have no other gods before Him. Re-phrased, this means He commands us to worship Him alone. To worship is to bow down before something or someone because it is “worth” bowing down to. God is only One worthy of our worship. God is unchanging. How He was is how He is. He is also Truth, which by definition means He cannot lie. God promises to fulfill His promises, therefore we can expect Him to fulfill His promises for us just as He has done in every generation past, including in the stories of the Old and New Testaments. When we obey His command to worship, God promises to draw near.

Heaven is our model. In heaven, worship and intercession occur without ceasing: Angels and those who have gone before are constantly worshipping before the throne of God; Jesus is simultaneously worshipped and is interceding on our behalf at the right hand of the Father. Jesus taught us to pray: Our Father who is in heaven; holy is Your name; Your kingdom, come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

The idea is for the remnant of His faithful on earth to create an atmosphere of worship, adoration and intercession which puts Him first (thus fulfilling ‘if my people who are called by my Name will humble themselves, seek My face and pray’, then He will restore our land 2 Chron 7:13)

God and His power are inseparable. It is part of who He is. Thus where He is present, so is His power. The objective through our united worship is to cause God to release a cloud of His glory which fills the atmosphere of this country, the battlefields of the War on Terror and ultimately the world. This will enable there to be results from the work done by the activists who support our troops to confound the world’s experts. Our troops and their supporters will not only be blessed by the manifestation of God’s supernatural in unexpected ways into their natural, but – even more importantly – the reality of God will be revealed to more people as well.

Are you called to be part of this worship and prayer cover for those who support our troops? This is the initial idea of how it will look (subject to change as things develop). The thread is to be ongoing. (Is that possible? Please tell me how to do it if it is not….) Periodically, as He leads, I will post a prayer He has had me write down as I pray it. You will be ‘pinged’. You are then responsible to respond only as He leads. For instance sometimes you may post a public response (it may be as simple as ‘prayers up’ or another prayer); you may post your own prayer to the thread and ping us; you may lurk and not let anyone know you are praying but pray in one accord; you may at times be called not to participate at all. The prayers posted can be intercession – asking/beseeching for something in particular – or worship – simply adoring Him in words for who He is what He does, what He’s done and what He definitely will do. The postings can be for a particular activism event someone is aware of or in general. DO AS THE HOLY SPIRIT LEADS.

God be with all of you. I can already tell from what little I have learned about you that your hearts are most definitely for Him. May He bless you richly and use you tremendously for His kingdom work whatever that work is.

Heavenly Father, awesome Lord, we give You all praise. Nothing is beyond You. Nothing is before You. Nothing is above You. You createde the heavens and the earth. No one else. Only You hold the power of life and death, only You are love and have the power to save.

Oh, how we adore You! How can we do anything else! In awe of You, we come gleefully before You as Your beloved children and bow reverently before You. Only One who is holy, we are not worthy, but by the sacrifice of the blood of Your Son, Jesus Christ we gain entrance into Your holy sanctuary.

Father God, You know. You understand. Our battles here on earth are not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities and powers in the heavenly realms, against this present darkness. This is the root of all wars and nothing else. As long as we are on earth, not in heaven with You, there will be war and we will have to fight for freedom. This is not a fight where we can be victorious unless You are with us.

Oh Lord God, You know the war we are fighting right now to stop terror from spreading and You know the battle we fight here at home to enable those who fight for us over there to continue their work! Lord God, we cannot make progress without Your power, without Your strategy, without Your provision and protection. And so we come before You know and ask for Your Holy Spirit to descend with all of Your attributes with increase in our circumstances, to release strategy and to do the work. Lord God, be with our troops overseas. Be their covering. Be their Guide. Let Your favor surround them like a shield according to Your promises. Where there are those who do not yet know You, cause them to know You with increase, little by little, day by day. Give them pockets of time in their day where they can be drawn to Your Word. Show them passages which speak directly to their hearts. Give the chaplains the words and opportunity to reveal Your Truth.

Lord God, give the officers Your strategy to win this war. Give them Your strategy for progress and protection for the troops. Give them Your strategy to continue equipping the Iraqis to fight for their own country and give those in Afghanistan Your next steps. Write Your strategy and Your truth on their hearts!

Lord God, guide and direct the steps of each troop, that they may walk in increased safety. Show them that You are there so that they may trust more in You and thus seek to hear and obey.

Be with every member of every military family. Be their comfort. Show them how You would have them live in the absence of their deployed family member. In Jesus’ name, remove all fear. TEach them how to walk in less worry - though this will only be possible by Your power, certainly not our own.

Be a comfort to the families of those troops You have called home to be with You already in eternity. Lord God this hurts!!!! They are so missed here!!!! Only You can provide comfort and only You can give these family members their new purpose to keep going - a purpose which can only be found in Your purposes. Teach them, dear Father, that they may day by day make it through and eventually move on -walking forward in Your work for them, while never forgetting.

Bless our wounded. Be their ROCK. Help them to see Your hand in their recovery. Let them see that there is still great purpose for their lives. Surround them with those who support them and can speak life to them.

Lord God provide Your strategy, covering, protection and provision for those who are standing up at home for our troops overseas. Thank you for each and every one of them. Thank you for the Gold Star families fighting for the troops to fight to victory and for the HONORED memory of their loved ones. Thank you for blessing the visits last week to D.C. by Vets For Freedom, Gathering of Eagles, Free Republic, Band of Mothers and so many, many others. Thank you for what You did both seen and unseen in these visits and stands for freedom.

Thank you for continuing to bless and provide for all the FReeps - Walter Reed, Olney, and Westminster just to name a few. Lord God raise up those to do the same on many street corners across America. Let those who are called hear the cry to arms by Free Republic members and now Eagles Up.

Lord God, all this is not just for our troops and our freedom. You use ALL things so people would come to know YOU! Do the work. Work through our obedient circumstances to reveal the wonder of who You are by doing things differently, by causing impact and victory for these groups who support our troops, when everything logical says it should not worl. Logic is not Your Wisdom. Your Wisdom and Ways are SUPREME!

We wait in joyful hope and expectation of what You will do next. We commit to go joyfully through our days, trusting in Your perfect provision and protection and strategy. We commit to tell the story of how You have worked when You are done so ALL will know You alone are LORD. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen
