GREENSBORO, N.C. - Senator Barack Obama has told an audience that although he believes Christ died for his sins, those who reject that teaching can also be children of God.
During a campaign stop yesterday in Greensboro, North Carolina, Senator Obama told the audience that he believes he "can have everlasting life" because Jesus Christ died for his sins. But he then told a questioner that he believes Jews and Muslims who live moral lives are just as much "children of God" as he is. (listen to audio clip)
The Illinois Democrat added that his late mother didn't share his faith but was a kind and generous person, so he's "sure she's in heaven." (listen to audio clip)

Obama's religious beliefs have been put in the spotlight over recent revelations about his former pastor. Videotapes of some of Pastor Jeremiah Wright's sermons have been described as being racist and anti-America.
Yesterday, the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination for president referred to those sermon remarks as being "stupid," but he continues to reject suggestions that he should have left the church because of that kind of preaching from his pastor.
I agree. I think that's a given.

Sorry if I missed this, but since Osama says "his late mother didn't share his faith" was she a Muslim perhaps? Or is this already known? The two things that can sink his campaign are ties to militant muslims (which this new Hamas article in the church brochure might eventually prove), or ties to racism against not only Jews but all whites, Italians, etc. The anti-Americanism is just the end result of these inner predjudices. What I think will happen is Democrats lose in a landslide and go down in history as trying to elect someone named Hussien while we were in war in Iraq. At least we better hope, but things are looking pretty rough for the DNC right now, even the normally liberal media like ABC and CNN are roasting him right now, just as they should.

I believe that’s a true statement. We are only condemned for rejecting the light we receive. Likewise, we’re not saved by the abundance of light we accept. We are saved through Jesus by walking in all the light we have.
