LOL, have you seen his comments?
45 years of study and you still haven’t evolved past worship of your own ego? Wow.
No matter ... its not your call, friend.
Good answer!!
Don’t get personal. People get zapped for that here...
Scott Carroll, who is an expert in ancient manuscripts, including the Bible, says the earth is more like 10,000 years old.
Charlie Clough has some fairly well studied lessons on Genesis onwards with a scientific background. He emphasizes the “framework” in which one studies science and perceives the Genesis account.
One good note is that we do no have directly observable evidence of the age. Inferable??? yes, and partially indirect. Carbon dating is heavily dependent upon exponential ratios and irrational math. Valid, indeed, but soundness still eludes us without a reliance either upon the infallibility of God or upon our heart.
For myself, I’ve found through faith that He is veritable and true and faithful. I can’t say the same with as much certainty with respect to science.
Fascinating.
Sometimes inadvertent comments reveal yet more clearly how the magicsterical has so much rubberized influence . . . generally speaking, of course.
Thanks for your thoughtful personal attack.
I appreciate the Heavenly points.
And, it helps illustrate how difficult it is for so many RC’s hereon to avoid such things.
That’s a fascinating construction on interpersonal realities.
Depends on what he means by the earth being that old.
SINCE it was void and without form or since the first atoms collected together in some sort of tangible form?
I don’t think much of anyone has much of a clue about super ancient history regarding this sphere or any other. The Scriptures are not overly clear. And science is guessing about as much as folks trying to read all manner of things into Scripture about it.
It’s all wholesale inference, speculation, bias, dogma, extrapolation etc.
Pretty flimsy stuff to built anything of substance on.
Well put.
I've heard that there is a school of thought that places the age at 10k rather than 6k. Most Christians that I know and most of the things I've read agree to the 6k years answer.
Quix said in response to my post to the RM: “Fascinating. Sometimes inadvertent comments reveal yet more clearly how the magicsterical has so much rubberized influence . . . generally speaking, of course.”
RM, is this an example of what you were getting at in your admonishment to me in post #300? This thread has nothing to do with the Catholic Church or the Magisterium.
Yes, it is. Both of you, leave each other alone. Discuss the issues, don’t make it “about” another Freeper.
Wow. The Book of Revelations foretold of televangelism. Who knew?
Well, he is an anthropological Christian scholar who teaches at either Boston College or Boston University. I’m sure he’s researched this as much as anyone can. None of us really knows the answer.
I can only agree. I’m not so concerned about how old earth is, I’m more concerned about the people on the earth and where they will spend eternity.
Thanks for the clarifying exhortation.
Sorry.
I will earnestly apply your exhortation and instruction.
Sorry for the trouble.
