I believe in copyright law. You’re building a strawman again.

I just think it curious that a Church has copyrighted its handbook. Why would a Church want to keep its handbook secret?

The question remains: name one unbiased report of an archeaological find anywhere in the western hemisphere that can be directly indentified by the Bom. Name just one.

What is the Smithsonian’s stance on use of the BoM for geographic and archeaological information?

“If Elsie doesn’t have to answer questions, neither do I.”

There is a difference: Elsie has facts and information that would enable him/her to answer the questions, you do not.

Where is that archeological evidence for Moses again?

Seems to me that Mormonism itself was a break-off from Christianity.

Wow, I guess you don’t believe in your own church’s writings. What about the Book of Moses? Didn’t God command Joseph Smith to re-translate the Bible? Didn’t that re-translation include the Book of Moses?

So, I guess by your question then, Joseph Smith was a con man.

I would like to see you do the same.

Me; too!

I sometimes get carried away and become emotional when illustrating the errors of MORMONISM.

I apologize for failing to stay on topic at times.

Much less than Billy Graham and most Baptist preachers. I believe Joseph Smith was an honest man who was tasked by the Lord to be His Prophet.

I believe Billy Graham and his ilk are in it for the money.

“God the Father is an exalted man (a man who has progressed to godhood) with a body of flesh and bones.

“Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, 1973 ed., p. 346 - “God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man...I say, if you were to see him today, you would see him like a man in a form-like yourselves in all the person, image, and very form as a man.”

“D & C 130:22 “The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s; the Son also.”

Great post, CC.

I’ve barely got through the entire bit, but if this belief is considered true by Mormons, whom do they consider (or how) was this God/Man created? Reads a great deal like evolution if taken at face value.

If this part cannot be defended, how can Mormons go any further in defending the rest of ... of ... ?

TY,

BR

The way it was taught to me when I was Mormon, is that eternity has no beginning and no end. In spritual form everything is eternal with no beginning. God, the Father has always existed eternally, as has the Son - - but so have we ALL. All of us have existed in eternity.

Now, the purpose of life on this earth is to obtain a body. God the Father, at one time, was a Spritual being who lived on an earth like ours, went through tests, progressed, grew in knowledge, obtained a body and he progressed into Godhood. Likewise the Son.

And so, with each mortal on each planet everywhere, there is the possibility of perfect performance and progressing into godhood. This is called the Plan of Progression, or the Plan of Salvation. You can actually read more about this “plan” on lds.org. In the search box, type “Plan of Salvation” or even “Plan of Exaltation.”

Mormonism actually teaches that the fall of Adam was part of the Plan and was necessary in order to enable humans on this planet a chance to learn and grow, to be tested and to become Gods of their own worlds.

Your reply is very much appreciated, ColorCountry.

See the dilemma?

IF:

“God the Father, at one time, was a Spiritual being who lived on an earth like ours, went through tests, progressed, grew in knowledge, obtained a body and he progressed into Godhood. Likewise the Son.”

What/whose/how Godhood? What god existed before ... well, before God progressed into Godhood? I’m trying to figure out how that question is answered by Mormons.

In Christianity, God always was, always is, and always will be. He’s God.

I reckon my question is how did God attain godhood without there being another god to whose level to aspire according to Mormon teaching?

This is confusing. Even trying to ask the question becomes so very muddling.

I think I’ll just go pray for all lost.

If you know the answer (to the question I’m TRYING to ask) and have the time, please reply.

Again, thanks, CC.

BR

You’ve hit on the Great Dilemma of Mormonism. Who is the first God, and how did it all begin.

The Mormon answer is: You cannot understand eternity. The mind cannot comprehend it. EVERYTHING always existed - Our God did, the first God did, The Son did and we ALL did - at least in a Spiritual form. There is no clear cut answer about when the first God became a God, we have no answer to “first cause” in Mormonism, just as there is no answer to “first cause” in Christianity precisely BECAUSE it is so unfathomable to us mere humans.

I believe Mormons have no more difficulty believing that we all existed for eternity than we as Christians having belief that only God existed for eternity.....or at least that is what they would have you believe. Of course we know it is nonsense. IMO, Mormonism is much like the great wheel of reincarnation, where each soul keeps progressing with each new stage until finally becoming an enlightened being or a god.

Mormonism is not Christianity - it is something all together different.
