1) YES THIS IS A SERIOUS PRAYER THREAD. WE ARE COMMANDED BY THE LORD TO PRAY FOR THOSE WHO ARE OUR ENEMIES AND COMMANDED IN HIS WORD TO PRAY FOR THOSE IN AUTHORITY THAT WE MAY LIVE PEACEFUL LIVES
2)YOUR RESPECT TOWARDS OUR DESIRE TO BE OBEDIENT AND TO SEEK THE LORD'S BLESSINGS FOR OUR NATION AND FOR THE CONVERSION OF OUR PRESIDENT-ELECT IS APPRECIATED
3)WHAT IS, IS. HE IS THE PRESIDENT-ELECT AND IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR US IF HE IS ON GOD'S SIDE RATHER THAN IF HE IS NOT.
4)THANK YOU FOR REFRAINING FROM RUDE COMMENTARY AND VULGARITIES. MANY FREEPERS TRULY FEEL LED TO PRAY FOR THE PRESIDENT-ELECT AND AMERICA ON A DAILY BASIS. THIS THREAD ALLOWS THEM TO DO SUCH, AND MANAGEMENT AND THE RELIGION MODERATOR WILL VIEW ANY RUDE OR VULGAR COMMENTARY ON THIS PRAYER THREAD AS A VIOLATION OF FREE REPUBLIC RULES IN THE RELIGION FORUM. God did change Nebuchanezzar’s heart. Perhaps he will Obama’s too.
I feel led to post this prayer thread, that is all. I’m certainly not doing it because I like getting jumped on every night :) It is a calling. That’s all.

There is a time and a place for all things, and this time and place is to pray.
Dear Father God, our heavenly Father;
We humble ourselves and ask for your grace and mercy in these hours. We thank you for President Bush and his wife Laura for their honorable service to our nation.
They have served these past 8 years with honor and dignity even though they were under attacks and false accusations. There were no scandels, no unfaithfulness, even though many diligently tried to dig some up.
Bless then with great honor as they finish out their final days in their high office.
We do ask in His holy righteous name. Amen

Since this is a prayer thread, I'll pray for you tonight as well, weston.
You can pray for him to be changed.
You can pray that he conform his will to God's.
You can pray that God uses him to accomplish God's purpose for our country.
There are a lot of ways to pray for Obama without praying for him to succeed in what he has promised.
You could even pray that he fail in every thing he tries until he eventually falls down on his face before God. At least you would be praying for him.

Lord I pray that Obama utterly fail in all those things which he has promised to accomplish that go against your will. I pray that he be spiritually dragged to the point where he realizes that he can only succeed as an honorable president if he surrenders his will to yours.
Lord Turn Obama's heart away from those positions which are an abomination in your sight, against abortion, against the homosexual agenda, against Godless secularism and turn his heart to you.
Have mercy upon this nation for blindly electing a man who represents much of what you abhor and turn his heart to you. Fulfill your will in his life and fulfill your will in ours.
In the interim, Lord give us the peace that passes all understanding and let our hearts and minds be in Christ Jesus. Forever.

Dear Heavenly Father:
We have strayed from Your course & have not held control or influenced this people in a way that will promote the general welfare of our country. Forgive us Father for being flippant & selfish, shallow & complicit with evil men. Our churches are sidetracked by all manner of heresies & Your presence is seldom detected these days. We know all things work together for good to those who are the called according to Your purpose. We also know You hear & answer our prayers, it is the way You have chosen to work on the earth. So, I intercede on behalf of our people, Your people in the earth. I believe the election of this man Obama is a symptom of a dread blindness that has overtaken our nation. Many of us resisted this tack but we were overwhelmed by the determination of the masses to trample us under foot in a frightening determination to have their own way. Is this the scattering of the power of the Holy people that You revealed to Daniel would happen? I don’t know, but I’m beginning to suspect. You said when salt has lost it’s savor it’s good for nothing but to be thrown out to be trodden under foot of man. Has the church so lost her saltiness that she has been thrown under foot thereby having her power scattered?
We know You hold the heart of kings in your hands & turn them any way you choose. Whether this presidency is a sign of judgment for the lukewarmness of the church, or to fulfill a larger purpose we cannot see, we ask Dear Lord that you have mercy on those that are Yours & make a provision for us. Help us with a little help. As Our Savior prayed in the garden in John 17 so I pray, not for those who are in the world, but for those who have believed in Your name. Keep us Lord Jesus, make our way straight. Strengthen us in the inner man & give us great courage. Clear our minds & let us move according to Your will. Bless our children & keep them safe from this evil that has overtaken the world.
I ask that you throw stumbling blocks before the plans of the wicked. We also know judgment begins at Your house so if this is a judgment on us, the church, then please help us to purify ourselves. Cause those Dear Lord who hate your people, to grope in darkness without success when they purpose in their hearts to hurt or make laws to destroy the innocent. Cause their arrogant plans to come to naught & let their skirts be discovered upon their faces. Let those who have been deceived & taken in by these wicked to awaken. Open their eyes of understanding & let them see how they have erred by cooperating with people of evil plans. We are accused of hatred & racism by hateful, arrogant people. We are your people Lord God, Creator of the Universe. We are your sheep. Hide us under your wings & deal with our enemies. Fill us with Your love so we may hold fast until the end. I pray all of this in Jesus’ Holy Name. Amen.

We thank You for the abundant blessings You have and continue to shower on this nation, even when we deserve judgment.
Father, forgive the sins of our nation as well as our personal sins. Abortion has taken the lives of almost 50 million; Your heart must break. We know in Revelations a loud voice cries out, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” I don't know exactly who is being written of there, but I do know that passage shows us that the innocent come to You knowing You will avenge there blood. Lord, we have lived too complacently while millions have died, forgive us. Many leaders and citizens are trying to create laws that are sinful. Some laws they hope would stop Your truth from being told. Help us to pray and fight this battle. Lord we also have let ourselves be corrupted in many ways like the world, forgive us.
Lord, in these last days we ask that you cleanse us, give us a new heart for You and let us be that light in a dark world. Help us to be faithful in word and deed, bringing You message of hope to a lost world. Bring that revival that so many have prayer for.
Thank You for giving us President Bush for these last 8 years. Though he has made mistakes, he is a man after Your own heart. Help him complete all You have for him to do these last few weeks. Protect him, his family and all who surround him. Bring him peace knowing he walked in Your will, and was forgiven for when he strayed.
Father, we ask that You begin to work in the heart of Obama. May he really hear of Your gift of salvation, understand and believe, and turn to You and be saved. Speak to his heart and mind and drown out the voices of those who would lead him and this nation away from You.
Open his eyes to the overwhelming responsibility he has on his shoulders. May he fear You above anything else. Humble him and mold him into the man You want him to be. Protect our nation and Your people from anything he or anyone in his administration would want to do that would harm us.
Lord, bless our troops and their loved ones. Protect them, give them discernment and insight when in harms way and guide there every step. We pray all would see and understand the sacrifices they and there families have made and we pray all people would give them the respect and honor they deserve.
Heavenly Father, put a fire in the hearts of Your people. Help us to seek You daily in Your word and in prayer. Give us discernment to recognize evil and strengthen us to stand against it and for You.

HoosierHawk, this is a PRAYER thread, that is why there is no debate. There are plenty of other threads to debate on - just not while we are praying. Debate is like interrupting a prayer service and arguing with the leader. If you don’t want to pray, don’t click on the thread.
