St. Thomas Becket, pray for us!
Amen!
Recently saw Bolt’s A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS on Broadway with Frank Langella ( a big surprise at how good he was) at Thomas. Quite a good production, even if half the NY audience probably took it as a “metaphor” for the current political situation, which it is not. Langella was quite good, the play solid but a little stodgy, and came across as a bit of a history lesson, (even with several memorable “zinger” lines, but nothing could ever beat Paul Scofield in the movie version. Nothing. Scofield was much quieter, and matter of fact in his resolution.
Our Anglican Roots: St. Thomas Becket
St Thomas of Canterbury(1118-1170) [St Thomas a Becket]
Of course I am talking about Thomas More, not Becket.
It’s quite interesting there are two of them in British history. And even more interesting to see the religious/historical/political context of Henry 8th creating his own church because the dominant one didn’t suit his personal wishes.
