The Church of England and its multifarious denominations from American Episcopals to Lutherans have become a sick joke and an irrelevancy. Little wonder at the surge of converts to Catholicism including cafeteria Catholics coming back home to the traditional Church.

Oh, come on. It's the newspaper characterization, isn't it? It is really so untoward for a diocese to see people demonstrate their new fashions?

Oh, nevermind.

Lutherans are definitely not CoE and nothing like the Episcopal church of America. And believe it or not, there is no real surge in the Roman church either. More the shame, Americans seem to be abandoning their faith based institutions for a variety of reasons

Ms Hemingway, who has designed vestments for George Carey, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, told the Express and Echo: "Women clergy have brought a fresh look to garments.

"They are not as willing to put up with dirty, worn-out robes. I think this has rubbed off on male clergy."

A nickel for your thoughts ... where does it go from here?

I’ve been given to understand that in Rome it’s very important for Priests to look good too. But, at least they’re really priests.

I visited a parish church in England that was built in the 12th century. My friend’s father helped install electric lights in it back in the 1950s. They still had no plumbing, but a rather nice perma-portapotty in the back.

They have a chasuble dating back to before the apostate Henry VIII, as well as a paten that he wasn’t able to steal, as he stole most of the rest of the gold from the churches.

At any rate, it’s no dirty worn out robe, that’s for sure.
