Names often cited as Egan’s possible successor include Archbishop Harry Mansell of Hartford, Archbishop Timothy Dolan of Milwaukee, Archbishop Wilton Gregory of Atlanta, Archbishop John Myers of Newark, Archbishop Roberto Gonzalez Nieves of San Juan.

Cognitive dissonance? But coming from Cardinal Levada who knows what this really means.

He says Cardinal Egan’s successor is from the “conservative and orthodox” wing of the Church.

You have given a hat tip to Patrick Madrid. Is this the answer to his request for prayer, yesterday? I'm very confused. However, if what he says is true, then I have only one word that needs to be expressed.

Allelulia!

The Pope has chosen an archbishop who is “dynamic, conservative and orthodox”, he says – traits which Vatican watchers say best match those of Archbishop Dolan.

Oh ... please let this be true! In his favor are the increasing number of bishops in this jurisdiction that are very liberal and will soon be retiring. What better successor to Cardinal O'Connor than Archbishop Dolan!
