Vatican confirms that Pelosi will have audience with the Pope [The Rest of the Story]
Catholic News Agency ^ | 2/16/09

The press office made clear that the Pope will meet with Pelosi in his capacity as a head of state since the Speaker of the House is the third in line to lead the U.S., should the president and vice president be unable to do so.

The idea of providing Pelosi with a photo-op has disturbed a significant number of U.S. Catholics and pro-life activists...

Over this past weekend pro-life activists and bloggers launched verbal salvos against the Vatican because they believe that the Holy See plans to present Nancy Pelosi with an award.

This is definitely not true, the Vatican’s press office told CNA. The idea that Pelosi would be awarded by the Vatican most likely is the result of activists confusing the visit to the Vatican with the Speaker of the House being awarded by a group of Italian legislators for being the first Italian American to reach such a high rank in the U.S. government.

This bit didn't make it into the other thread that's currently making the rounds.

I'm posting it because the other post, by leaving this out, is misleading.

ah, so the Holy Father only plans to meet her as a head of state

as he would similarly meet with, say, child murderers and cannibals like former “national leaders” Idi Amin and Emperor Bokassa

I would hope that the Pope would award the witch with a certificate of excommunication.

I just hope his Eminence remembers to stay out of striking range and that she can unhinge her jaw to swallow prey nearly twice her size.

I am holding out hope that he will perform an exorcism on her.

(Or at least publically chastise her.)

I know he has to tread carefully on things political (for example wishy-washy nicey with arabs is necessary to save Christians in arba lands), but she is so foul she needs someone to knock her around.

Why don't you wait until AFTER the meeting to pass judgment, or is taking another cheap shot at the Pope just too tempting?

Pretty sure even just plain water would make her melt.

Poor Holy Father.

He gets put upon by all these shysters who come calling, looking to add some faux gravitas to their sordid agendas by way of a photo op.

Pelosi has no shame. Knowing the Church's position on abortion and other moral issues and the Pope's previous admonitions to politicians, you'd think she'd just keep away and go elsewhere to do her gladhanding.

Gag!

just TOO tempting

and my shots do not come cheap......

waiting for the photo ops of Nancy with her lace mantilla, basking in the Pope’s radiance to further enhance her own “importance” and bolster her street creds to speak as a “catholic”

Of course not, because you are prejudiced against them.

Why not wait and see what comes of this before criticizing?

Of course she has no shame. This is her way of sticking it to him and to the rest of us.

I pray she is confounded in her wickedness.

All those criticizing the Pope on this issue should be praying for him instead.

On the other hand, the Bishops are VERY vocal and all over the board on things political.

I know he has to tread carefully on things political
