Frightening: New website exposes where Prop. 8 donors live!
American Papist ^ | March 16, 2009

This is very scary .... from a UK Telegraph blogger:

Valleywag is reporting today on a new Google Maps mashup, eightmaps.com, which gives the name and profession of every Proposition 8 donor. It also lists how much they donated and shows where they live.

The site's strapline is distinctly creepy:

"Proposition 8 changed the California state constitution to prohibit same-sex marriage. These are the people who donated in order to pass it."
In other words, for everyone who is angry that some people don't want homosexual marriage - this website shows them where to direct their attacks. Literally. Frightening.

update: on a perhaps related note, the HBO show "Big Love" aired parts of the temple rites of the Mormon church during their latest episode. Why should we care? Reader James:
"Because to Mormons this is akin to the desecration of the blessed sacrament [to Catholics]. Needless to say, it has caused outrage in the Mormon community ... some theorize that this was done in revenge for the Mormon Church's campaigning for Prop. 8."
Of course, this is not strictly-speaking akin to desecration of the Eucharist, but we still ought to show solidarity with Mormons for the persecution they are receiving because of their Prop. 8 support. This is an issue of justice.

And the fact that the site has no reference to who put it together seems to indicate that they creator knows full well that such a thing is highly unethical, likely illegal and just plain wrong. I guess the Fascists are wearing pink these days.

Can we just call this what it is: terrorism.

Bears repeating! So much for gays calling others intollerant. I understand they are now considering introducing a bill that would eliminate marriage in the state of CA and replace it with "domestic partnership". When the courts approved gay marriage, it didn't take 24 hours before they were being performed. Now that Prop 8 has passed, they want to overturn and/or replace it with some other initiative.

The only thing firghtening about it is that anyone who set up a website that t urned the tables on anti-Prop 8 donors would be hung, drawn, and quartered (by the media and all the usual suspects) for instigating a witch hunt.

Those of us who stand up for traditional values have long-known we are vulnerable for doing so.

As my favorite line from the ubiquitous 80’s hymn “Be Not Afraid” paraphrases the scriptural beattitudes in a sort fo crescendo:

“And if wicked men insult and hate you all because of Me, blessed — BLESSED — are you!”

(NB: note the non-PC use of “men” that this lyric uses to ascribe negative characteristics - I think this phrase may have been neutered after I stopped paying attention for the sake of my spiritual sanity.)

I’ve seen a debate over this on a leftist blog. The idea is that marriage is a fundamental right, and that homosexuals have had a fundamental right taken away from them by a vote, which they liken to blacks having their civil rights taken away from them by a vote. This is to their thinking so unjust that reprisals are justified - indeed, even necessary.

Now, the people saying this were talking about boycotting businesses or services owned or managed by such people. They weren’t talking about going after them where they live. But it seems a natural extension.

Their thinking is flawed.

Heterosexuals can not marry a person of their same sex either, the law is the same for all regardless of sexual preference - therefore no rights have been violated.

I have the San Diego ping list. For all of CA, I’ve seen some post a link to CA related threads on the state board.

Very good argument, I have never seen it expressed so well before.

Simple explanation, that should settle it...yea right!

Homosexuality deteriorates the brain.

You’re being too logical, KittenClaws.

In the eyes of the left, they are kinder, nicer and more wonderful than everyone else on the planet. Therefore, when they scream, intimidate, lie, hurt(physically or financially) those who disagree with them, they are absolutely in the right because all their violence and hatred is done in the name of “fairness” and “social justice.” For that reason, many leftists looked the other way concerning the Stalinist purges and Mao’s Cultural Revolution because those evil acts were done in the name of making society more “egalitarian”. Today’s anti-prop 8 folks are the political descendants of the Stalinists and Maoist Cultural Revolutionaries. Hence, they can do no wrong in their eyes. Can you imagine the howls and screams of persecution they would make if our side treated their side they want they treat us?

I notice, of the donors whom I personally know, the donations were made in the name of the nonworking spouse. I made a donation in my name also but only because I handle the money in the family. That may be a little protection for some donors but will irritate the gays that the working spouse didn’t have to list his or her employer. I personally think it is a mistake to require donors to list employers, and yes, we had to list employers. I am self-employed so it was not a problem for me.

I could argue another point as well.

The fact is, marriage is only a “right” in the most secular sense. The secular courts can, and have, allowed domestic partnerships.

In the religious sense, Marriage is a RITE, a Sacramental Union.

Placing the rite of marriage before the courts could also be considered a violation of the liberals oh-so-precious- separation of church and state.

make a site that shows all homo donors

Won't have the same effect. Even the left acknowledges that the nature of support for the two sides is very different. The pro-traditional marriage Yes on 8 side is grassroots: many small-to medium size contributions (there is a threshold below which the donations are not disclosed at all, $100, I think). The pro-gay contributions came from big name celebrities and large faceless organizations.

LOL! The leftists howl and scream no matter how well they are treated.

The homosexual lobby is a prime example. I remember when they just wanted to be “accepted”. Gave ‘em what they wanted, and it just isn’t enough. It never will be.

It won’t be enough until it’s like Sodom.

“leftists howl and scream no matter how well they are treated”

And they keep getting more. It’s a fully intentional technique. We need to learn from it. It’s no good saying we’re above it. That would be like people saying they were above machine guns. These are the methods by which control is wrested. Those who don’t use them are going to lose

i think that this little tidbit from the new york times article says it all. their (eight map) intention is to intimidate.

from the times: ...”The identity of the site’s creators, meanwhile, is unknown; they have maintained their anonymity.”

fascinating, they want their privacy but want to intimidate by mass-public distribution the identities of donors.

Exactly. After the homofascists and their enablers turn the US into a totalitarian state requiring absolutely everyone to agree with them, who are they going to blame when they’re still not happy and secure in their lifestyles? I guess it will all be George W. Bush’s fault. Or Michael Savage’s fault. Or Ronald Reagan’s fault. Or Jerry Falwell’s fault.

It’s painful living in the consequences of Romans 1 and they want to make sure everyone shares that pain equally. Sad, really.
