It's been an unusual few weeks where LDS beliefs on a variety of topics have emerged in the news. These include the value of missionary work on young men's maturity, service, fasting, happiness and stem cell research. Perhaps this is good news...
There have been a number of recent stories about where different religions stand on stem cell research. Mormons, particularly, Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, have been the focus of news stories about how religious beliefs define the issue. This comes as members of the Georgia legislature are considering a measure that would define "a living in vitro human embryo is a biological human being." Atlanta Journal-Constitution columnist Jay Bookman wrote:
"The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints likewise takes no definitive view of when the embryo or fetus acquires a soul, although some Mormons set it at the moment the embryo attaches itself to the womb. That explains why U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, ordinarily a strong social conservative, can also be a strong advocate of embryonic stem-cell research. "

What have we made up? Most of what is posted are quotes from your leaders, and info posted on LDS sites.
Aye, and “there’s the rub”!
And easily verifiable with the internet.
Not like in the “old days” when you had to go down to visit the “State street Socrates” library in order to verify a quote, or spend weeks pouring over obscure journals and documents to find things (I have done that and IT IS NOT FUN).
Google is a God-send.
Just look how UGLY he was!
I see you fianlly got your CD with the LDS Stumpers for Christians working...
Unless you can supply the names of two men holding the rope; we'll have to dismiss the alledged 'evidence'.
So, now you admit you have been lying all along about The Prophet Joseph Smith killing two mobsters? Wow, what other falsehoods have you promulgated?
Somehow you think that Greyfoxx wrote History of the CHURCH??
Strange!
Silly GENTILE!!
Since WHEN do we have to 'GET' anything from one of your replies?
We merely use them as launching pads to espouse our doctrine, deception and drivel.
--MormonDude(WaiT!! I didn't mean to type that last line... MODERATOR!!!!!!)
You siwwy wabbit!
It's the MORMON groups that LOVE each other!
--MormonDude('cept them durn ol' followers of Scripture: D&C 132)
Well I can!
But you'll need a decoder ring to unnerstan' it!
Thank you for your honesty, MormonDude.
ROTFL!
Aw, c’mon. Try me!
ROFLMAO.
No, elsie, I just read what he put in his post, you apparently could not be bothered. Why don’t you take a look?
As you know, a group of your fellow protestants acquitted them. Probably some of the jurors were on the job with the mob.
Just so I understand what you are saying, it’s okay to knowingly post a historically proven falsehood and it’s not okay to call someone on it?
BTTT
It must be; for MORMONs post their stuff that has been proven wrong, and we call them on it ALL THE TIME!
And then again, there is all the standard anti-mormon rhetoric out here.
It is not ok to call the other Freeper a liar or tell him what he knows or doesn't know. Telling the other guy "that's a lie" is attributing to him the intent to deceive.
Reading minds or attributing motives to other Freepers is "making it personal" - the first step in most flame wars on the Religion Forum.
This is SO true!
But ya really gotta wonder just WHY the Founder of MORMONism and all of those subsequent Leaders and Shakers actually SAID all those things we 'standardly' post?
