America's wishy-washy pastors
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | 4/8/2009 | Joseph Farah

America achieved its independence and freedom in the 18th century in large part because colonial pastors stood up for biblical principles, preached them, lived them and refused to back down from them – even in the face of death.

The American War of Independence has been accurately called a "pulpit revolution" for this reason. It was inspired by great men of God who recognized evil and called it by its right name.

What a difference two centuries, combined with affluence and the corporatization of the 501(c)3 church culture has made.

I could not agree more.

American ministers believe in “progressive” politics and “liberation” theology.

It's going to be sock puppet time for Notre Dame's president if he doesn't discover some backbone.

Amen and Amen. America has been sold out by the Rick Warrens, John MacArthurs, David Jeremiahs and all their less media savvy peers who preach so much easy-believism that any sign of God’s redeeming “law written on the heart” is castigated as a sign of legalism. Most of the men in today’s pulpits are hirelings.

Warren was the very picture of wishy-washy in the Larry King interview. He basically affirmed that he believes marriage is between one man and one woman, but that he did not campaign about it.

I's sort of like saying "Ah smoked pot, but ah didn't inhale".

I wouldn’t include John MacArthur on that list. An “easy-believism”/soft on homosexuality pastor of the Joel Osteen/Rick Warren variety type MacArthur definitely is not. In fact, his book “The Gospel According to Jesus” got him a lot of flack from the easy believism crowd. Don’t know enough about David Jeremiah to say one way or the other.

I never, ever, would have thought that expressing support for traditional marriage would brand you as a hateful hate monger against the homosexual community.

Expressing the opinion that you believe that marriage is a man and a woman, gets you attacked from the politically correct crowd. Unless you are a good Democrat like Obama or Hillary. They say they believe marriage is a man and a woman, but they get a pass since they are good Democrats.

Obama will appoint liberal judges to the federal courts, who will discover a constitutional right to same-sex marriage in our federal laws, so that’s why he gets a pass from the Human Rights Campaign.

John MacArthur preaches, no doubt, that same-sex relationships are sinful, but he routinely ridicules Christian activists, and the forefathers themselves, for attempting to bring a Biblical world view to government. He wrote a patronizing book called "Why Government Can't Save You," and he has called the American Revolution itself a violation of Romans 13. He has said that it doesn't matter how much a ruler abuses his authority you obey "Caligula, Hitler, Stalin." He made fun of Operation Rescue and he has called Christian political involvement a "waste of resources."

He's a hireling--a wolfe in sheep's clothing.
