Hi everyone...I received an email from my WONDERFUL DIL, requesting prayer for the mom of a friend of hers. Please read on.
Long story short...my mom collapsed wednesday night at home, her heart stopped and she wasn't breathing. we called 911 and they came and got her to the hospital where she has been unconcious and breathing on a ventilator since. they ran an EEG to see her brain activity and came up with good news and bad news. good news is that her brain stem is still showing activity, that controls your bodily functions, ability to breath, etc. She can breath on her own but not enough to sustain life. The bad news is that her craniul (sp?) surface did not show much activity at all, and I am pretty sure that controls everything else. she also has some behaviors indicitive of someone who has severe brain damage. really we won't know what her brain function is until monday when they re-run the test. It will tell us if she has any possiblity of recovering or if there really isn't any chance. If it's the latter the nurse said they usually recommend taking the person off the ventilator. We are praying for a miracle that her results on Monday come back good with great hope for a recovery, but aren't sure that's what we will hear. We are hoping for the best but preparing for the worst, as they say.
Her name is Carolyn if you would like to use her name in prayer. She has got myself along with 2 other sons, one is 27 one is 17. We just really need your prayers. Even if she can recover, it will be a very long road for her, so we just need all the prayer we can get. It's going to be a very long weekend.
Just a note that my mom is my absolute best friend in the world, she was (and hopefully still IS) going to walk me down the aisle at my wedding. I have just been thinking of every single possible outcome and how things will change with each one. It's really like an out of body experience for me, I am here but not here. When I talk to people about it, it's like I disconnect, like I'm talking about someone else not my own mom. I don't want to believe this is happening to her. This happens in movies and you hear about it from other people but it's NEVER suppose to happen to you. Its frustrating not knowing anything, and...I don't even know.
As for the cause of her collapse they also dont know...they have ruled out a heart attack, stroke or anything respritory - although right now that is not their priorty...her level of brain activity is. I really appreciate all your prayers and ask everyone to pray harded than you ever have. I NEED my mom back...we all need her.
In Your Name.....AMEN!

BG, please tell this sweetie my story.....
I found my dad unconcious in a chair at his house. We don’t know what happened, as he didn’t have a stroke, so perhaps it was a diabetic incident. At any rate, he was in a coma, and I was told he would never wake from it... did I want them to feed him.
I said yes.
They carefully explained to me that he was in a coma, and would never recover, did I *really* want them to feed him?
I said yes.
Then they told me how he could live for 20 years like this.. etc etc etc.
I said you will feed him and do all you can to help him. If God wants him home, you won’t be able to keep him here.
They fed him.
I went to see him every day and talked to him. On the 10th day I walked in and said “ Hi dad”. He said hi back. He was back! He needed help caring for himself after that, because I was unable to handly his diabetes, but we had the best 2 years of our lives after that.
It really is the “practice” of medicine.
WONDERFUL story!!!!! I’ve sent my daughter-in-law the link to this, to send to her friend...and asking for updates.
So far nothing...
THANK YOU Grammy and EVERYONE for your prayers.
(If I don’t hear back soon I’ll rescind the offer to change diapers...)
*waves hi to DIL*
:)
Yes, Lord, give this precious woman a REAL miracle and I pray she will walk her daughter down the aisle for her wedding day. Give her family the peace that’s so desperately needed right now. Amen.
Praise be to God!!
We have had some excellent news today! Mom is responding to us! This afternoon we went to see her and they had her off the sedation and she was awake! She was able to turn and look at us when we spoke to her and she can follow commands, when we would ask her to squeeze our hands she would. The nurses told her once that they had to pull the blanket down to do something and she raised her arms so they could move it! The Neurologist was VERY suprised by her improvement. Her C/T Scan came back normal (no swelling or cell loss) her EEG came back with still some abnormalities. He said it is up to mom now how much better she gets. He said she may stay the same and not improve or she may improve but there is no way (barring another medical crisis) that she will decrease in her activity. The next step is trying to get her off the ventilator which they said could take a couple days or more, just depending. She is doing phenomenal compared to what she was 3 days ago and our hope and spirits have risen drastically. God is soooooo good. Keep praying because it's working!!! Hallelujah!
PS - even the nurse said mom was an answered prayer - AMEN!
Thanks, Logan's Prayer Warriors! Thanks trussell's Pray-ers! THANKS LORD!!!!!
Excellent news....will continue prayers for a full and speedy recovery.
Thanks for the update.
