Thanks for the thread. My favorite Holocaust martyr — St. Maximillian Kolbe, a priest who died voluntarily taking another man’s place. (The other man had a family!)

Rabbi David Dalin wrote an excellent book about Pius XII, “The Myth of Hitler’s Pope”. It fully documents how the Pope not only didn’t side with Hitler and the Nazis, but encouraged his priests and religious to work against them at every turn, and who personally ordered his priests in the Vatican to do all they could to save Jews in Italy, when the Germans arrived to start rounding them up. Rabbi Dalin even documents that there were a large number of Jewish families hidden at Castel Gandolfo, the Pope’s summer residence.

Read Cardinal von Galen's
sermon on (Nazi) euthanasia.
If it is once accepted that people have the right to kill 'unproductive' fellow humans--and even if initially it only affects the poor defenseless mentally ill--then as a matter of principle murder is permitted for all unproductive people, in other words for the incurably sick, the people who have become invalids through labor and war, for us all when we become old, frail and therefore unproductive...
Who will be able to trust his doctor any more?

The number six million is the best approximation for the number of persons Hitler exterminated, or at least the most consistent number. Anyone who genuinely wants to know how they arrived at that number will hear the phrase “holocaust denier” immediatly, as it is a forbidden question.
Out of the six million, many were killed for being something other than Jewish: Catholics, Polish, homosexuals and Christians of other denominations as well. It is unfortunate that recognizing other persons who suffered at the hands of the Socialists in Germany is seen as an attack on the Jewish people.
