Ping!
xs, you and xshub should have been at this mass.........
I went to 7am Mass there... you should have see the security! WOW!
xshub has attended in the past. i think we got a better sermon at St James....
you probably did, seems like he was afraid and evasive of actually saying anything.
besides, you need to dodge potential bolts of lightning, being in a Church with some of those supposed catholics.
he had them all there and yet was too PC to tell it honestly......he evaded, minced words and failed to deliver.
I noticed Clarence Thomas missed the mass......he probably sought out a church where the pastor wouldn’t mince words.
But, truth be told, I went to mass this past Sunday and had no idea it was ProLife Sunday........as I already mentioned Sunday.
I’m with you ... Archbishop Wuerl is too worried about giving offense to be prophetic.
“May that voice of the Word of God touch our hearts and tongues in the judicial year that lies ahead.”-———Indeed! May Nancy Pelosi and all in Congress hear the Word...
Wow!
I wonder what miss soto thought of that. (Lack of capitalization done purposely.)

Sorry, too subtle by half -— limp, evasive. It’s like, 11 minutes into a 12 minute sermon, inserting a phrase about “speaking up for all our people, including Germans and Austrians and people who kinda rhyme with “news” and “blues” -— in Munich, in 1942.
The Cardianl made his point in a way that was not
by anyone.
Oops, word missing. Try again?
“not missed”
i think it’s called a red mass because lawyers have blood on their hands.
I hope you’re right. Knowing from experience what it’s like to have a self-deluding conscience, I can testify that it takes quite frank and explicit talk to get through to truth-avoiding sinners such as me. Subtlety often doesn’t quite “leave a mark.”
This is a pathetic explanation, and it's even more pathetic that Red Mass is in quotes.
The red vestments are worn because this particular Mass is a plea for guidance from the Holy Spirit, so the pentecostal vestments, music and readings really about the Holy Spirit are used. In this country, it is traditional that the annual Red Mass be on the Sunday before the opening of the session of the Supreme Court. As the calendar now falls, it happens to be pro-life Sunday - something our archbishop remembered yesterday from the pulpit.
This is a great tradition that dates back centuries. Yesterday, I saw a lot of local dignitaries, including one of the men running for county executive, sitting in the pews. I really wish this would get more attention.
He is our cardinal and because I’m very active in RCIA i have met him on numerous occasions. I keep saying he should be pope. He’s got such a unique way of giving a homily and getting his point across and he never backs down ... truly a great man and a great spokesman for Christ.
