Several trailers also have wanton destruction of Buddhist temples and Tibet being engulfed by tidal waves and this is a major location area and thematic centered item in the movie. (the first trailer centered on nothing but this) so one could just as well ask it if it is anti-Buddhist.
::spoiler alert::
While there may be an intention meant, I believe they go for what they consider familiar images and include religious imagery to both bring it back to the Noah’s ark theme (you’ll understand when you see the movie) and the concept of shaking humanity down to their very core, the most fundamental aspects are threatened, not just life but faith. However, there is a twist outside the Mayan aspect that “this has happened before, it will happen again” that some will find interesting.
Also saw John Cusack as well as Danny Glover. The usual cast of Hollywood idiots.
If Obama causes WE THE PEOPLE to revolt by doing something which really threatens out Republic(like canceling the 2010 elections because of terror attaches or some such pretext), I have a list of scumbags whose carcass I would personally like to run electricity through and those two are at the top of my list. Ammunition is too good for them.
Is this supposed to be a Christmas movie release? Typical!!!
I will save money by staying home and watching FOX News, TCM, etc. Life is good after all!
Because Catholics have bigger statues and cooler buildings. Who’s going to watch a movie about dinky Protestant statues and storefront churches collapsing? Boooorrrinnggggg....
Of course the film omits any "easily recognizable Muslim land marks" because of the filmmakers's abject cowardice. That makes it a fundamentally dishonest document. An eight-figure advertising budget that brings the trailer into television sets all over the world makes it an overt political statement, far more than "just a movie."
Anyone who purchases a ticket to a Hollywood movie or watches TV in a way that can be measured for revenue purposes is directly helping the anti-Christian propaganda of the Enemy.
If you can’t see a movie for free or steal a TV show by downloading it, don’t watch it.
I grew up on the ten commandments King of Kings Jesus of Nazareth and now we have this crap. Every chance hollywood gets it abuses God’s holy name, GD this JC that. Tv too. And hollywood has lots of money and who do they support,DEMS. Yep they make sick.
The Catholic Church is the only force over the past 1400 + years that has stopped and beaten Islam. I have issues with church especially the libs and scum at Notre dame and other “catholic” schools.
The reason why the church is attacked by the left is Islam knows it may be the only thing stopping them from total domination with the exception of china.
Well, I wouldn’t know an easily recognizable islamic fascist land mark if it bit me.
This movie is from Hollywood.......I take it for what its worth, which isn’t much.
"2012 is a movie so bad that the Vatican is in talks with God to cancel the actual Armageddon altogether." (Massawyrm, AintItCoolNews.com)
Ouch! And it goes downhill from there. Let it die of its own awfulness. It won't last long.
amen
Today
Just typical Hollyweird if you ask me.
BTW, he excluded Mecca from his destruction film because he feared the Islamic backlash.
Look at the bright side. It shows that Christendom has produced great structures worth destroying in a movie. Except for the Kaaba nothing notable worth destroying in the Islamic world.
The point of the Catholic references is to portray the Church as an impotent fraud, and the faith of its members as insupportable superstition which is incapable of saving even the most faithful adherents at a time of true crisis. The Church will survive the mocking slurs of this hollywood lowlife, just as it has time and time before.
The Passion of the Christ.
Or not! ;-)
