The guy is right.

Porn was bad enough when men had to buy video’s , or go to theaters that had porn. Now,with the internet, it is so easy to get that people spend hours surfing first one and then another site.

Thank you for posting this; good fuel for the soul. We need bullet-proof armor, and only Jesus can fullfill that. Stay in the word, stay in prayer, keep lifting up everyone in this country (in one sense we’re no better than the rest of the world, however, remembering FR is all about this country specifically...hope that makes sense).

Metaphysically, it is sin, no question.

But these effects are bull. The only major real-life effect is that women freak out and give you hell if they catch you. And that’s not even mentioned.

I have two big problems with porn:

First it distorts peoples views of what a normal relationship is.

Secondly it is demeaning especially when you realize every one of these women (granted it is by their own choice) is someone’s mother or daughter.

Porn is an evil perpetrated by satan himself. It is used mainly to alienate husband from wife, but it’s also satan’s device to introduce youngsters to it early on in order to completely destroy any natural bashfulness about sexual matters.

Some of it is just plain disgusting. And it gets boring fast.

Lay off the guilt trip.

Better things to spend time on.

Once again, the teachings and the Spirit of Jesus prove that they can withstand the test of time...and that is remarkable when one considers that the technology of today would blow the minds of men and women living 2,000 years ago.

Jesus proves that the Truth is indeed the right Way for all times.

Only God could be so wise!

When it comes to porn, the question facing many men is simple: is it really wrong?

Not with Firefox. It blocks the annoying pop-up ads.

Using Explorer? Porn is definately wrong.

Same old same old. Here we go with Republicans wanting to act like democrats. “We know what’s good for you!”

Porn is no different than alcohol. Use with moderation and you’re fine. Abuse either and it leads to trouble. End of story.

Yes, are there weak people who can’t handle porn and let it ruin their lives? Yes. Just like alcohol.

The problem is you then have people wanting to “ban” the substance/behavior for everyone. The smoking Nazia are very similar.

It’s about Freedom people. We are free to do things in the privacy of our homes. Some people drink, some surf porn, some people spank their kids.

Who decides what’s right? I believe the Bible says it’s ok to hit your kids right? Spare the rod and spoil the child and all that. But many people consider striking a child in any way to be abuse.

If you want to live a Christian life and follow the Bible that’s great. But guess what? In America it’s ok not to believe a word of the bible. Or, on the contrary, preach Bible as much as you want to whomever will listen.

Nobody forces you to look at naked women/men having sex. Remember the greatest gift god gave us all: FREE WILL.

In the grand scheme of things, porn is not something that keeps me awake at night. There are more important things to fret over.

Porn is on the pathetic side of the sin of Lust. It’s on the same scale of patheticness (that’s not a real word but it ought to be) as DIY Sex, for which it is custom-made for.

Is it really a big deal? No, it’s a small deal, and a stupid reason to Sin. And because God does not use a sliding scale for Sin, porn is a stupid reason to go to Hell for.

For the “odd angle”, let’s approach porn from the direction of biology.

From the point of view of biology, sex is for reproduction. That sex is pleasurable, is solely for enticement for sex, leading to reproduction.

Or is it?

Actually, nothing about sex is simple. In all variety of animals, from insects up to humans, sex is a challenge, a contest, and a major part of natural selection.

Males have a prerogative to transmit their DNA to their offspring, to as many females as possible.

But females have the double prerogative to get the “best” DNA, from out of a group of potential DNA donors; and also, if they are of a species that raises their offspring, to get the best male provider they can, again, out of a group of potential mates.

When there are few males available, this is easier than when there are a lot of males around. This means that females and males have to fiercely discriminate, at a bunch of levels.

At the cellular level, sperm is broken down into three known types. The first type is the fastest swimming fertilizing sperm. But a second type is a “blocker” sperm. It tries to block another males sperm from reaching the ovum. And a third kind is a “fighter” sperm, that will actually fight with another males sperm, with the same goal in mind.

The female also gets to pick and choose not just which sperm her ovum wants to be fertilized by, but often when it is to be fertilized. And this is much more complicated and less well understood.

This discrimination works its way up the chain of complexity all the way to social behavior.

For example, why is there marriage? There is a biological reason for marriage, because it is better than humans just mating. It promises the male that his offspring will have his DNA. It promises the female that in exchange for exclusivity with the male, he will help provide for her children. And the benefits to the children are obvious.

But marriage only works as a system when it is socially enforced, when outsiders won’t try to break in to the marriage for their own purposes. If society won’t enforce marriage this way, then the courts have to intervene to help marriage keep its advantages.

Then there is an additional problem, that a lot of males and females in our society are “also rans”, as far as reproduction goes. It has been speculated that prostitution exists as a way for non-reproductive males and females to be distracted away from reproductive couples.

Enter masturbation. From a purely reproductive point of view, it is insane, a waste of resources. Unless it is a way, again, for people who should not be reproducing to be diverted away from those who should.

So from a pure biological sense, masturbation is nature’s way of telling you that you are a reproductive loser. Of course that is not universal. There is some argument that post adolescent masturbation is a “functions check” of the reproductive equipment. But that is just a few times.

After that, masturbation is a way to eliminate you from the gene pool. So, quite literally, pornography is for losers. But should it be prohibited? Perhaps the answer to this arises from a different question.

Are you weak because you masturbate, or do you masturbate because you are weak? The assumption has long been the former, but if the latter is true, then excessive adult masturbation is a signal that you probably shouldn’t have children.

Thanks for posting this. A good dose of moral clarity is a great way to start the day. Every point made above is valid and true. What a lot of men forget is that the woman on the screen is a REAL woman, somebody's daughter, as the author put it:

They are not fulfilling God's dream for their life as His precious daughter, nor are they fulfilling His design for sexual expression and fulfillment.

What if that were your daughter on that screen? How would that make you feel? Somewhere there's a bunch of fathers feeling that way.

I talk with men who are having to fight it as an addiction;
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

My first husband was a porn addict. It started with the usual Playboy magazine, but then he moved on to increasingly more expensive and time consuming materials and activities.

When I finally left him, he was literally spending thousands of dollars a year on porn materials, visiting massage parlors and XXX rated movie theaters during his work hours, and jeopardizing his career. He went away for 2 weeks once to National Guard traing and came home with scabs and open sores on his penis due to the irritation of his frequent masturbation. He absolutely refused to believe that his behavior was in any way abnormal, and that **I** was somehow unbalanced and being unreasonable.

Some years later I remarried and have been married to a wonderful man for 27 years. I testify that there is a very big difference between a loving relationship and one in which I was and object used as an extension of an addiction.

It is my belief that in some people ( men and women) that porn releases endorphins that are powerfully addictive. We have taught our children to avoid porn completely. While some do not seem to become addicted ( as with alcohol and drugs), others do.

It's just sexual release, like masturbation, and we all know that masturbation is not condemned in the Bible. It's not even mentioned.

What about Onan?
