Burleson Couple Says Egg Is A Message From God

BURLESON (CBS 11 / TXA 21) ― There's a different type of story out of Burleson this holiday season. A couple in the city, 13 miles south of Fort Worth, believes God has given them a divine sign and it's a message spelled out in the most unusual of places.

Tracy and Pam Norrell are calling it a miracle, a gift laid before them on their small farm.

Tracy went to gather the eggs from the chicken coop Monday night, as he does every day. But this time one egg in particular caught his eye.

Unlike the others, this egg isn't smooth and a very noticeable cross is indented on the top.

The Norell's say the egg was laid 'straight from heaven' and is a message of encouragement that comes at the right time.

"This time of the year, we get so taken up with the presents and money and we forget about the reason," Pam explained. "I think he [God] was just telling us he is the reason for the season."

The Norell's haven't quite decided what they'll do with the egg yet. It goes without saying; the couple says eating the egg is not an option.

That’s a soft shell egg, my hens would pop those out on occasion. Can’t explain the cross, tho. These eggs are very soft and pliable when they slide out, it might have got pressed against something.

“Wrinkled” eggs can be caused by infectious bronchitis in hens which is caused by the Coronavirus. The “cross” looks like an imprint of the bottom of the chicken cage, as the shell is soft and pliable.

I went off on a tangent in my RE class last week...I've been an Old Testament teacher in my parish 11-12 years. The subject was the furor over Psalm 109:8, and its application to Obama: "May his days in office be few...". The kids got the message.

Then we read Ps 109:9, "May his children be orphans...". They got that part of the message, too! The point I was able to get across was, as they grow older, to be vigilant about those who pull bits and pieces from the Bible to suit their agendas.

At our Christmas Party last night (we won't meet again until January), I played the Tower of Babel segment of an old movie, Huston's "The Bible". They got a big kick out of it, learning the historical context of King Nimrod and the word "babble."

Great group of kids (sixth graders)...I enjoy them more with each and every year. Of course, it took me several years to learn how to deal with these energetic youngsters! LOL!

You’re just being hard-boiled. As for me, omelet the theologians handle this.

And which of you, if he ask his father bread, will he give him a stone? or a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he reach him a scorpion? — Luke 11:11-12

That's a soft shell egg,

That is indeed a soft shell egg. And it may also be a hoax or a joke being played on this couple.

Back in high school science class we did an experiment that produced these same results. Each student put an egg in a cup of vinegar for one day and the shell became soft. We then took our eggs out of the vinegar and placed them on a shelf on top of a small object. I used a nickel and one girl used the cross she wore.

A day later the egg shells had hardened again and embossed on the bottom of the eggs was the inverted shape of what we had placed them on. My egg with the nickel under it had a round indention that when I rubbed it lightly with a pencil, you could see a crude resemblance of Jefferson. The girl who put her egg on the cross had an egg with a perfect indention of that cross.
