Garrison Keillor has always struck me as mean-spirited, wrapping a fundamentally smug and condescending world view in a fondant of cutesy-poo irony.
Now, thanks to Glenn Reynolds‘ posting of Marissa Brostoff’s TABLET MAGAZINE column, “Garrison Keillor Doesn’t Like Jews Writing Christmas Songs,” others may also reassess their opinion of NPR’s favorite son. Brostoff describes Keillor’s recent Baltimore Sun column, in which he complains about
“all those lousy holiday songs by Jewish guys that trash up the malls every year, Rudolph and the chestnuts and the rest of that dreck. Did one of our guys write ‘Grab your loafers, coma along if you wanna, and we’ll blow that shofar for Rosh Hashanah’?”
Anyone capable of writing a column like this doesn’t ‘get’ Christmas — unlike Irving Berlin, who very clearly did.

Keillor got rich on the backs of the taxpayers. He’s a thief.

I love Prairie Home companion and often wonder how he cam mix liberal beliefs with his obvious love of God and Jesus
How can smart people be so stupid???
I often wonder what they imagine government office are like - many little govt employees busily hustling about and high-fiving each other when they successfully ‘help’ another grateful citizen???
I wish they could all spend a day in a REAL government office watching the back-stabbing and turf wars and snipinf and sitting on their fat asses all day reading th enewspaper until it comes time to help someone- so they ‘go on break’
I have been a computer software engineer for 20 years and have NEVER taken ‘a break’ durin gthe day- we usually just never think of it (not that I am forced to by overwork mean gapitalist pig bosses- i just love my work)
The ONLY job i ever hated was ehen I did some work for a local government agency- We had a database administrator who did not know how to turn on the database- a SENIOR level programmer who spent 6 months trying to write software I did in 4 hours- who called EVERYONE into a debugging meeting to find out he was writing 100characters into a string that could only fit 50
They spent a quarter million dollars on an ‘XML INTERFACE’ to copy data from one table to another- a process that could be done manually in 5 minutes.
When I pointed this out the company agreed but there was NO WAY TO RETURN THE MONEY!!!!! so they gave extra hours of free ‘tech support’ (for the 5 minute operation)
When I quit in disgust they hire the County Supervisors nephew who took the ‘civil service test’ and passed (the answers can be memorized from any help book they sell) - so them moved him over from THE PARKS DEPARTMENT!!! They hired a guy who was MOWING LAWNS to a senior programming position because he passed the civil service test.
I had to show him how to turn the computer on before I left

Listened to the show this past weekend, not a single traditonal Christmas song was sung. It had a bunch of songs either he or his cast members penned. Awful songs no one could sing to.
Who’s Garrison Keilor? I doubt that anyone really cares. Are the Unitarians upset too?

He is the master of ceremonies for the Festival of Truth Sacrifice celebrated by barren and self-castrated New Age couples who squirm and jostle for position, seeking drops of blood dripping from the NPR altar like blind piglets at the teat.
These will make perfect faceless, heartless bureaucrats in the coming World Socialist Reich. Keillor is teaching them to despise anyone not like themselves which will, in turn, aid their self-justification when they sanction government to brutalize and murder Christians and patriots. It has certainly worked with the unborn.
I've been listening to him for 30 years and I don't think it's that obvious. We are getting dangerously close to Judging his soul here but, best you can say is he is fond of the church culture. The faith behind that? How can say.
I just ‘celebrated’ 30 years in programming - and like you, I don’t think I’ve ever had a formal break. No time, or interest!
And I did a government project once - they needed a meeting with 10 people for an hour to talk about the heading on a report. This bunch must have spent millions generating flowcharts, but no code.
I would describe Keillor’s columns as cold and fuzzy.
He contradicts him self from sentence to sentence. Totally illogical, totally emotionally driven, totally negative.
I’ve been unamused by Keillor for a long, long time. I can’t believe he is still on the air. Says something about NPR.
Ditto. Even if I did not find him a repugnant libtard, he's still not amusing.
