Ah, yes ... condescension. The last refuge of the losing argument.

It seldom fails.

I just quoted Matthew’s inspired account ... your interpretation of it is a perversion.

They had a TRUE sign that the King of the Jews had been born. So they went to Jerusalem ... where the King of the Jews should be found. There, they learned from the God’s servants the scribes (NOT from Herod) that the King of the Jews would be found in Bethlehem, off they went, still following the star. The star, being true and therefore a sign from God, led them to the place where Jesus (the King of the Jews) was ... there they worshiped him. When God, through His angel, warned them about Herod, they OBEYED GOD. Throughout their journey, THEY OBEYED GOD.

To call them servants of Satan is unspeakable.

****************

Amen to everything you just said.

There is a great book, “The Gospel in the Stars”, by Jospeh Seiss which argues that Adam named all the constellations, and the names of the constellations tell the story of salvation history. If the Three Wise Kings were deciphering the prophecy of the True Messiah, as coded in the constellations, they were not “astrologers”, but were simply interpreting Adam’s prophecy.

It is quite significant that they were the first royalty to worship Jesus Christ. Of course, many kings after them also adored, Charlemagne was one of my favorites, alongside Rey Batallador.

Cheers, and Happy New Year, 2010 A.D.!!

“They were sent off to Bethlehem by Herod and the “star” led the way. They were acting as agents of Herod and thus Satan also.”

So the “star” was also in on the plot?

You had a link to the discovery of Herod the Great’s tomb in 2007 so I went looking for some additinal info on Google.

There’s an article in Archeology News
http://archaeologynewsreport.blogspot.com/2009/12/herod-greats-tomb.html

And a neat You Tube vid interview with the archeologist and some great views.

Don’t know if you want to post or ping, but I think it’s pretty cool any time you can prove out something like the description of his burial from ancient historians like Josephus.

What wise men? They were magoi not magi. The Magoi were high officials of the Parthian Empire

Imagine that. All of Western Civilization got it wrong until you came along and cleared things up.

Let me guess. You are a high school history teacher and will tell us that the Founding Fathers were all criminals and swindlers and Washington was really a Hessian mercenary, and Lincoln was gay, and Thomas Edison stole his inventions from assistants, and the US military knew about Pearl Harbor in advance but wanted to go to war with Japan so they let it happen...etc. etc...

It's known as deconstructionism, and we've heard it all before.

Thanks! One of the NatGeog DVDs around here has the NG “Herod’s Tomb” program trailer, looks pretty interesting.

I’ve always been disturbed by all these “isms” but I suppose I fit into the “historic premillennialist” categorization of the early church. From my reading and discernment, we will not be spirited away prior to the Tribulation but will endure persecution for a time. It’d be nice to believe my loved ones would be spared, but this does not appear to be so.

Beyond that, I’ve never really been interested in arguing about it, though many others appear to be interested in little else.
