Wednesday February 17, 2010Gay Carnival Prince Denied Communion by Dutch Priest
By Patrick B. Craine REUSEL, Netherlands, February 17, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) A Catholic priest in the small Dutch town of Reusel is drawing criticism for his decision last week to deny communion to an openly homosexual man, reports Chrétienté.info. Gijs Vermeulen, 24, served as the prince for the town's carnival this year. In the official program for the event, he was pictured alongside his 5-year homosexual partner, Michael, and it is reported that the description of him focused on his homosexual lifestyle. Fr. Luc Buyens called Vermeulen in advance to inform him that he would not be given communion during the days of the carnival because of his open proclamation of practicing homosexuality. The priest offered to give him a blessing instead. Despite a protest, Fr. Buyens held fast to his decision. Vermeulen attended Mass, stating that he did not want to spoil the party, but did not approach the priest for the blessing. Vermeulen has said that he will be speaking further with the priest, the parish council, and others. This story does not make me happy at all, he said. I was raised as a Catholic. I was baptised and I was confirmed. My grandfather and grandmother find the affair terrible. |

What don’t they get? They know the position of the church. This is just a way of mocking religion. It is standard gay activism. We all sin but the problem is these individuals wear theirs as a label
Which affair?
Way to go Padre!
The single biggest purpose driving these “activists” is the destruction of traditional churches. They can get what they want from a cowering, politically correct, straight world. But that isn’t what they are after.
It doesn’t matter what country you are in, it is a noisy minority that keeps us all whipped. Time for a wake up.
FTA: “My grandfather and grandmother find the affair terrible.
How right they are. And sinful, too.
shoulda joined the Lutherans.
This is just a way of mocking religion.
&&&
Exactly.
“Which affair?”
Which brothel?
Very Good!
He may have been “raised Catholic”, but obviously slept through it all. Problem is, most Europeans today view church attendance as a part of their “culture” to be done whenever the whim hits them, and not a faith. This guy obviously thinks the priest is denying him his “culture”. All I can say is, Way to go, Father! Wish we had more like you in the USA!
Anyone know how that's pronounced? Lol
Gijs
Anyone know how that’s pronounced?
Well my guess is that with a silent “g”, it probably sounds like a pig squealing/s;)
Let us hope that this experience will bring about a change of heart for Vermeulen.
Their religion is simply cultural.
