Is the EU Taking Control of Middle East Peace Process?
RaptureAlert.com ^ | Undated | Scott Sykes

Biblical prophecy (Daniel 9:27) informs us that the antichrist will ultimately confirm the covenant between Israel and her neighbors, a covenant which for a temporary period of time, early in the Tribulation Period, will bring peace to the Middle East (although it will be short-lived; see Revelation 6). We know that the antichrist will come from the revived Roman Empire (Daniel 2 & 7, Rev. 17), so it makes sense to watch for developments involving the EU and any involvement they have in the ongoing attempts at peace in the region.

The EU already has a prominent role, through its membership in the "Quartet" (EU, UN, Russia, US), but the EU is expected to begin assuming a leadership role as we approach the Tribulation.

EU Officials Call for International Conference to Discuss Palestinian State

Quotes:

"Paris, France, February 23, 2010 (Pal Telegraph) - French President Nicolas Sarkozy has reiterated his call for the creation of a "viable" Palestinian state but has not ruled out the possibility the international community could recognise a new state before its borders were set."

"Speaking after a meeting with Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas in Paris yesterday, Sarkozy left open the possibility of recognising a Palestinian state before negotiations with Israel were complete. His foreign minister, Bernard Kouchner, has said in recent days that he would be "tempted" by the idea."

"Foreign minister Bernard Kouchner said before Abbas's arrival that to break the stalemate in the Middle East peace process, some countries might recognise a Palestinian state before its borders were determined. Israel has criticised the idea of any unilateral initiative and says only negotiations can achieve meaningful peace."

"One can imagine a Palestinian state being rapidly declared and immediately recognised by the international community, even before negotiating its borders. I would be tempted by that," Kouchner said.

"Writing in Le Monde yesterday, Kouchner and Spanish counterpart Miguel Angel Moratinos - whose country holds the rotating presidency of the EU - called for a major international conference "to frame and give dynamic" to the peace process. After such a conference, "Europe could recognise a Palestinian state, finally allowing the Palestinians to become full members of the international community," they wrote."

Just look at what we have in this revealing article. The EU considers that an international conference that they hold can make determinations regarding Israeli borders, create a "Palestinian State", and force Israel to live with the decision. The arrogance of these discussions is astonishing.

What is also ominous about this "discussion" is the fact that it isn't isolated to this specific conference - it has been a constant message from European leaders now for several weeks, and seems to be growing in momentum. The surrounding terrorist groups are also (predictably) embracing this idea.

One way or the other, the Middle East situation will shift to the EU. With the U.S. involved in its internal problems, there has been less of a focus on the Middle East situation and it is apparent that the Obama administration will not help Israel. The UN is basically worthless, and Russia will support any legislation which favors the surrounding enemies of Israel (Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Hamas, Hezbollah, etc.) - which translates to their support for these EU proposals.

It seems obvious, without even reading these most recent proposals, that the EU will ultimately assume control of the Middle East peace initiatives. We are seeing that process begin to shift more and more to the EU, and that will predictably continue as we watch the ongoing process of the world marching lockstep into the Tribulation.

Additionally, I am also watching for more details regarding proposals on how the peace will be maintained once the "covenant" is confirmed, or, better stated, how this peace deal will be "confirmed". I believe (and this is my speculation only) that the only way to "confirm" a covenant in the Middle East is by having "peace-keeping" forces in the region. Therefore, one aspect worth watching is who will step forward with a plan to maintain the peace once the deal is signed.

Will there be a proposal to have European forces sent to the region in order to maintain ("confirm") whatever deal is reached?

We shall see.

The seven-year covenant the Antichrist makes with Israel and the nations begins the Tribulation and after that the judgments begin.

The next big event on God's prophetic calendar is the Rapture of the Church then the "covenant with death", as God calls it, that Israel makes with the Antichrist.

I think Long March is correct in #4 for two reasons.

First place, our historical Western European bias tends to obscure our understanding of Daniel Chapter 7. The Fourth Empire we call the Roman Empire should probably be called the Roman/Byzantium Empire--the last thousand years of its existence, it had its capital and center of gravity in the East. Its capital was at Rome for only a few hundred years.

Second, we assume as do the commentators that the "Prince" of Daniel 9:26 is in fact the Anti-Christ. If that assumption is correct, the KJV translation of the word for which they use "people" is misleading. The underlying Hebrew word is "yam" which means "tribal or ethnic group".

The tribal ethnic group which made up Titus' army in 70 AD were Assyrians from modern Turkey, Syria, and Iraq (not Iran--who were Persians). We learn that from the Roman discharge records of the legions; and from Tacitus. Josephius not only identifies them but identifies specific individuals who did specific acts in connection with destruction of the structures on the Temple Mount. In each case, the individuals come from areas in modern Turkey.

I agree that there is a definite possibility that the Antichrist could come from one of those geographic areas which were part of the Old Roman Empire and are now Muslim.

Especially with the worldwide tolerance of Muslim violence, the creeping acceptance of Sharia law in the Muslim communities of Europe, the politically correct prohibition against speaking the truth about Islamic beliefs and the fact that the goal of every Muslim is the submission of the entire world to Islam - none of which any world leader seems to have the courage to stand against- the stage certainly does appear to be set for the possibility that the Antichrist will be Muslim.

Yes, I can certainly see how the world would fall in love with and worship a charismatic Muslim who came on the scene, had a solution for the global economic crisis, had a plan for world peace, came across as mild and normal and not a homicidal maniac, and was probably funny to boot.

Just look at how the world fell to their knees at our Muslim president.

Actually, the Anti-Christ was born in the area south of Damascus to which Shalamanazer removed the tribe of Dan in 725 BC.

He doesn't believe in anything that I know of. He was born a Jew and does not honor the God of his Fathers.

He is now in the civil administration in Bethlehem, one of the seven cities on the West Bank set over to the PA for administration under the Interim Agreement; positioned to be one of the seven heads of the Beast in Revelation 13.

And coming from out of Bethlehem, and thereby meeting the test of the Jews to support his claim that he and not Jesus Christ is the Messiah, promised by God to Bless the World through the descendants of Abraham.

I don't believe this is it...What is needed is an individual...

It may be first that a war must break out that will lead to an individual as the peacemaker...Not the EU per se...

What do you make of this verse?:

Rev. 13 (v)7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

Quix?

After the Rapture of the Church, and during the Tribulation, there will be multitudes around the world who accept Christ as Savior.

They are known as "Tribulation Saints".

They are the people whom the Antichrist will make war with, and persecute and behead for their refusal to worship him.

Yeah, I think that has to be either

the 144,000 Israeli Believers from every tribe and/or folks who became Christians during the Tribulation.
