The Haitians Need the True Gospel of Jesus Christ!
The Ignorant Fishermen Blog ^ | DJP I.F.

In light of the Haitian earthquake today’s Haitian people are oppressed by demonic voodoo and superstition. Immoral and decadent behavior abound. Their social status and standard of living is found to be one of the poorest of all nations in the Western Hemisphere. Their poverty - as of other poor nations - is because of their outright rejection of sound spiritual and natural laws. Does this constitute a “judgmental attack” on the nation of Haiti? No, of course not! It is a sound observation expressed in terms of the law of cause and effect, which is timeless. Seeking to make any “hay” of it is resisting reality and natural law.

What the Haitians and the rest of the world truly need more than “band-aid” rescue efforts conducted on their behalf for the here and now is the TRUE Gospel of Jesus Christ! The Haitians need to know and comprehend that they will one day stand before Almighty God to give an account. They need to know and comprehend that God has provided a Savior for them on account of their transgressions against the RIGHTEOUS STANDARDS and ABSOLUTES of Almighty God (Rom. 3:23). They need to know that Almighty God LOVES them and sent His Son to SAVE and DELIVER them from the wrath to come and this present evil age (Gal. 1:4).

“In light of the Haitian earthquake today’s Haitian people are oppressed by demonic voodoo and superstition.”

Almost word for word what Pat Robertson said.

Decadent wealth, the idolatry of material comforts, and numbness to sin (like to that of abortion) are also signs of judgment. SIN is punishment itself. America is also being judged. It is by God's GRACE that many Haitian people have woken up to the grim reality of our fallen state as human beings, and are realizing their hunger for a SAVIOR. Some people never get woken up at all...Sometimes, natural disasters can be the greatest blessing. GOD can use them to bring people to Himself.

Their poverty - as of other poor nations - is because of their outright rejection of sound spiritual and natural laws.

So, presumably, the great wealth of decadent European society is based on their embrace of "sound spiritual and natural laws" like homosexual "marriage" and abortion on demand and legalized prostitution?

Your argument has logical and theological holes so large one could comfortably navigate an aircraft carrier through them.

Perhaps before you stand in judgment of the Haitian people and claim that they have rejected Jesus Christ (which they manifestly have not) perhaps you should examine your own assumptions about yourself and your status.

First Corinthians 10:12.

Indeed, material wealth can often be the worst curse of all!

"For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

And even the poorest people in America can count themselves among the richest people relative to the rest of the world...

This is also a dangerous presumption and God's ways are not ours. "Bad things happen" to true believers as well, (think of all the persecuted believers suffering throughout the world!) ...And great things often happen to the "worst" of people. It doesn't mean that they deserved it any more than another. So again, God's ways are not our ways. Nor his thoughts our thoughts.

Haiti is a majority Catholic country. Robertson wouldn’t be saying this if it were majority Evangelical.

Yes he would. He’s been quietly trying to aid and convert Haitians for many years now. There’s a reason the “shouter” churches are hated by the Vodouisants.

Agreed.

Our denomination is there big-time. Just because Pat Robertson’s church isn’t prominent there doesn’t mean the Gospel is not being preached.

I agree with what Pat Robertson said and believe he would have said it no matter what religion the people called themselves. I believe that when the writer states (referring to haiti: “Immoral and decadent behavior abound.”, all people’s religions are meant. Whether they call themselves Christian, Catholics, Mormon..... it doesn’t really matter because SIN is SIN and when one sees “Immoral and decadent behavior” they can believe that the people are setting themselves up for judgment. If not on earth, than after death.

And yes, people take offense because it is the truth according to God, whom I believe. I see those proponents of Islam speaking to vast crowds and the people in Entertainment who flaunt their nakededness and filth ..all being revered by lost people...... and I really can’t believe the blindness of this world.

This, from no less an authority than “The CIA Factbook”

Haiti

Roman Catholic 80%, Protestant 16% (Baptist 10%, Pentecostal 4%, Adventist 1%, other 1%), none 1%, other 3%

USA

Protestant 51.3%, Roman Catholic 23.9%, Mormon 1.7%, other Christian 1.6%, Jewish 1.7%, Buddhist 0.7%, Muslim 0.6%, other or unspecified 2.5%, unaffiliated 12.1%, none 4% (2007 est.)

From this we can draw that almost 20% of the US population is non-Christian, while only 4% of the Haitians are in this category. Yet, by any measure, we are vastly more wealthy then they even though the US non-Christian percentage is five time greater in Haiti. So where is the cause (non-Christians) and effect (economic poverty) with the authors contention that the two are directly related? There is none.

Of course, about half the Haitian population practices voodoo, but on the other hand nearly the same percentage voted Democrat in the last US election (along with their goofy economic beliefs), so I’d call it about even on that one.

Nah...there’s really no connection between poverty and non-Christianity. Besides, when did the Bible claim consistently that you were going to have economic wealth based on being a Christian? Spiritual wealth is your reward as a Christian. All else is idolatrous and of only passing benefit since we’re all just “passin’ through”, unless you know something the rest of us don’t.

I’m not entirely sure why monetary wealth is of any benefit when a Christian is oriented to an eternal timeframe, but there’s plenty of TV Preacher “Blab It and Grab It” types that would have us believe otherwise. :-)

The greatest chastisement from God, when He has had enough of our stiff necked ways, is NO CHASTIZEMENT at all. He leaves us, abandons us in our sins.

I believe that this is the punishment that the USA has been under since the 1960’s. The USA government is the biggest supporter of the United Nations, and the US government directly or through the UN, has spread the social desease of the woman as a worker, and a worshiper of the orgasm. A contracepting, seeker of the orgasm ( Examples: Sex in the City, Desperate Housewives, afternoon soaps etc), and abortion machine. Rather than women as God wants her, a chaste single girl, who aspires to do the will of God, be a good mother, and the pride of her husband and children.

The earthquakes in Haiti are chastisements from God to his humble children in Haiti.

You’re using logic? Why, how dare you actually use reason! Shame on you! Next you’ll be saying there’s no reason to believe in global warming or a shooter on the grassy knoll. What’s a matta’ with you? :)

“What’s a matta’ with you?”

I seem to be that way, but I’m really not. I’m simply a victim of my education.

Sorry. :-(
