You’re absolutely right; we are not a passive receipient on the internet...(never looked at it that way). I can control what comes in my home. Television will blindside people even if on the animal planet by some of the raunchy material on commercials. etc.

Not only that you can control what comes in -- on the telly, it's a one-way monologue: you as the recipient/listener/watcher have no role to play --> you cannot talk back or respond in any way. On the internet, if you doubt something, you can refer to another site, respond in comments or talk about the errors on your own blog. It's like a big room filled with people talking and listening, while TV is like that room with everyone tied to their seats and gagged with their heads kept straight ahead while someone is haranguing them
