This fits in nicely with the Catholic Church’s push for more members.. uh, I mean amnesty for illegal aliens.
I’m not so sure. He is on record as saying he wants immigration law enforced but wants to make sure that families are not broken up. Perhaps, you could say he wants it both ways.
Mr. Dan Brown, call on the white courtesy phone in the lobby.....
LOL, Archbishop Gomez said in an interview, he actually tried to read The DaVinci Code to see what the fuss was about, but it was so boring, he couldn't.
Why should we concerned about “broken families” if the illegals aren’t?
Bishops who are going to be "kept on" don't have coadjutors appointed for them.
DaVinci Code...yuck. Halfway through I put it down and tried to remember any fiction that I had read that was as bad as that novel. I came up with only one: Tom Swift on Spindrift Island.
Basically it amounts to “Wheel of Fortune Meets Tom Siwft”.
Awful.
That said, the thought of a conservative archbishop for Los Angeles almost gives me hope. The activist, liberal, amnesty pimp, weenie in the job today deserved to be fired a decade or more past.
("Weenie" because I wouldn't feel right using more accurate language.)
Gomez will have a lot more than child abuse issues to work on, he'll have his job cut out for him.
Actually, it isn’t a given that the illegals who are given amnesty will be Catholic. A lot of them end up in Pentecostal churches, a phenomenon I have personally witnessed here in Northern Virginia.
I don’t know if it’s only in Virginia (I’m in Richmond), but I am hispanic and there are alot of small Spanish-speaking Pentecostal store-front type churches. Just in knowing the community here, I’d daresay there are tons more attending the small churches. This topic comes up alot in the bodegas and at the soccer fields. Those little churches are like tiny illegal hotbeds.
I agree with him. I thought Brown’s book sucked.
I had to read that book for my last job in 2006, and I couldn’t take it seriously after he made a simple historical error that I picked up on.
catholic ping.
.
I know you are just being snarky, so I shouldn't even reply, but Archbishop Gomez has been very open, and helpful to the Converts from the Episcopalian/Anglican Church who wish to corporately cross the Tiber.
There are some of those Parishes in the LA Archdiocese. They wanted to become Catholics as a Parish, but Mahony would not allow it as it wasn't "ecumenical". I hope that Archbishop Gomez will be more amenable to those wishing to join via that Pastoral Provision process.
I admit, I liked Archbishop Flores - he got my husband to pray the Rosary - but I’m glad times have changed, too.

Not to mention the plot was pretty much a rip off of a lot of older novels.

Impressive. How did the Archbishop do that?
