Pope Benedict creates 'new evangelization' Curial Department: headed by Pro-Abort

According to Allen at NCR this appointment could be a vindication of the pro-abort Cardinal, here. This is a strong indication that the new Curial department will be a paper tiger. Has Pope Benedict written Europe off? Perhaps this is the nail in the coffin of John Paul II's credibillity as a Saint as this 'new evangelization' was one of his more enthusiastic, if dubiously effective, creations.

The Cardinal has offered no recantation or apology for his confusing and cynical official act.

Your photo appropriately brands “pimping” for what it is, although a beaten, terrified woman would be a clearer message.

That this word is now part of the vernacular for spectacularly done up makes me sick.

I heard a group of third grade Catholic schoolgirls admiring cars at a local car wash as really “pimped”.

Thank you American media.

Hey, thanks.

Check out the article by Hilary White linked on the blog I be “pimpin”, along with the John Allen article which she links.

I think you’ll be suitably irritated, but some people are, to be fair, reporting this as a promotion out of danger to self and others.

“Pimper”, where does that originate from? Not a fan of Jacobean comedy I guess.

Here's something interesting:

“There is credible information that Fisichella is widely perceived in the Curia to be an inappropriate President of PAV [Pontifical Academy for Life]and there is a reasonable hope that the Holy Father will recognise the need to provide him with an occupation better suited to his abilities,” the statement said.

Could it be they need him out of the PAV pronto, and gave him the first thing available? Early forced retirement would have been better.

Hardly pro-abortion. He is the president of the Pontifical Academy for Life.

Indeed, this Bishop was roundly criticized by members of that commission for not being consistent in his Catholic position on Life; hence the title and general surprise that he’s been appointed to this dicastry.
