Registration Extended for Close of Priests' Year

ROME, MAY 6, 2010 (Zenit.org).- Priests and others interested in attending the official close of the Year for Priests now have until May 17 to register.

The Congregation for the Clergy announced in a communiqué that the registration period for the June 9-11 events has been extended because of the numerous requests being received.

The closing ceremonies culminate with a Mass celebrated by Benedict XVI on June 11, feast of the Sacred Heart. In addition to the priests of the world, all faithful who wish to show their support for priests are encouraged to attend.

What do you know about the Sacrament of Holy Orders?

Here are four pages about the Sacrament of Holy Orders from the Catechism of the Catholic Church. #1580 specifically talks about "married priests."

Does anybody know what the next “year” is going to be? We had the year of St. Paul, and then the year of the Priest. I keep looking for news about the next theme.

If you find out, please let me know. I have three predictions:

The Year of Evangelization

The Year of Study of the Sacrament of Penance

The Year of Elevation (of the Saints)

Most likely the first one, or the call to conversion of all to faith in the Lord.
