Very interesting article for all -- Catholics, Protestants, everyone else to take note of!

** It will be impossible to use any man-made lighting during this darkness, except blessed candles.**

Nothing but blessed candles will shed light -- be sure you have ones that are at least 51 percent beeswax. Otherwise -- no light!

**During these three days, people should remain in their homes, pray the Rosary and beg God for mercy."**

As Catholics we constantly exhort people to pray the Rosary. This is a time when EVERYONE will learn and say the Rosary. Alleluia!

**"All the enemies of the Church, whether known or unknown, will perish over the whole earth during that universal darkness, with the exception of a few whom God will soon convert.**

A warning to all who diss out Blessed Mother and the Saints as well as the Catholic Church. Take heed and change your ways!

**"Religion shall be persecuted, and priests massacred Churches shall be closed, but only for a short time. The Holy Father shall be obliged to leave Rome."**

This is the first time that I have seen that churches will be re-opened after being closed, but it makes perfect sense, for all people will flock to these churches. The survivors, that is, will flock to churches. The persecution is underway and I believe we will see more of it. Priests are already being killed.....and in my estimation this can only increase with our present state of affairs and leadership (lack therefore, that is.) I have read elsewhere that Pope Benedict, our current Pope, will spend days in exile.

**More importantly it is crucial to note that Our Lady of Fatima echoed the same sentiments when she warned us at Fatima in 1917, thus giving support to these two previous prophecies.**

Don't need to say anything here -- other than pray the Rosary daily!

Thanks, Brian. We just had members of the World Apostolate of Fatima (not the correct name, I know, come to our church for an evening of Adult Faith Formation. We call it Faith Formation 101. We had a pretty good turnout with over sixty adulrs there.

Gamma rays would not penetrate Earth’s atmosphere well to burn the ground, but they would chemically damage the stratosphere. Melott estimates that if WR 104 were to hit us with a burst 10 seconds or so long, its gamma rays could deplete about 25 percent of the world’s ozone layer, which protects us from damaging ultraviolet rays. In comparison, the recent human-caused thinning of the ozone layer, creating “holes” over the polar regions, have only been depletions of about 3 to 4 percent, he explained.

“So that would be very bad,” Melott told SPACE.com. “You’d see extinctions. You might see food chain collapses in the oceans, might see agricultural crises with starvation.”

Gamma ray bursts would also trigger smog formation that could blot out sunlight and rain down acid.

The chastisement, of course, doesn’t have to obey the laws of physics as it is, after all, sent by God. But maybe it will anyway because, as you point out, there are natural mechanisms that could result in quite effective catastrophe.

I do not deny faith simply because I propose a physical explanation that fits a description of the chastisement. Quite the opposite. I suggest that through science one can affirm faith and be better prepared when the chastisement arrives through familiarity with its form.

In addition to what I have cut and paste here, a gamma ray burst would act like an EMP pulse to disable nearly all electronic devices. Only candles would provide light.

If you survive the burst, you would need to stay away from direct ultraviolet exposure - indoors.

I can go on how the science seems to match the prophesy...

I had read Blessed Anna-Maria Taigi's revelations some time ago, and the book I read continued on a bit about the three days of darkness, exclaiming that there would be demons fiercely pounding on your door stating they were your child in utter distress, and they needed to come in quickly. Of course, if you opened the door, you would then die.

She went on to explain that if, for any reason, one of your children *was* to run to your home during the 3-day period of darkness (gotta warn them ahead of time not to!), they would, in fact, already have died before they reached your house. I don't know if the version I read was sound or not (anyone else read this?), but it makes sense that the devil would do such a trick, so, take note of that if you wish, after you pick up your blessed candles, that is. :) (Of course, the answer to all of this is prayer, the Eucharist, fasting, Reconciliation, Adoration, and so on. We were helping an Orthodox church clean out a Catholic church building that had been donated to them. (Long story...a Catholic philanthropist purchased the closed church from a diocese, he died, the estate donated the property to the Orthodox church next door, the fellow trying to sell the church building is a relative of a patient of mine...) We were primarily picking up all the pre-VII choir loft music books for use at our local TLM. But we also came away with two laundry baskets full of old liturgical candles, including many old Easter candles and remnants of altar candles and other devotional candles.

So, we've got the blessed candles angle covered ;-)

Our Lady of Akita was an apparition in Japan approved by the local bishop:

"As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity.
