Thank you, I stole the original thought from you!

You are welcome. I stole it (with permission) from someone else so long ago I forget who or when. ;)

It is certainly a truism.

"Two things:

1. It's Dave Armstrong.

2. More importantly, there is no reference anywhere, anyplace which backs up your claim."

Yep. Same old unsupported fiction which denies what our own lying eyes are telling us.

I have seen that same Dave Armstrong screed posted several times in the past few days. What is interesting is that not a single RC has seen fit to defend the claim when challenged on it's applicability.

Perhaps it's based on the idea of throwing enough mud against the window to blind those who may wish to see the truth.

I think that's why it stuck in my head. I've seen so many different explanations of the same thing over the years.

Exactly. There's a terrible hypocrisy here at work. When faced with valid accusations of wrong-doing in the papacy, rather than work to redress those wrong-doings to insure they won't happen again, RC apologists instead simply deny the crimes ever took place; deny the crimes are really all that bad; blame everyone else in hopes of deflecting the guilt; and trash those who report these crimes as "biased" and "anti-Catholic."

"The main thing is that you stop telling lies to yourself. The one who lies to himself and believes his own lies comes to a point where he can distinguish no truth either within himself or around him, and thus enters into a state of disrespect towards himself and others. Respecting no one, he loves no one, and to amuse and divert himself in the absence of love he gives himself up to his passions and to vulgar delights and becomes a complete animal in his vices, and all of it from perpetual lying to other people and himself." -- Dostoyevsky #

The issue is the definition for celibacy is not sex...no sexual thoughts, no porn , no masturbation. But the RC defines it just no marriage so little boys and street walkers and other men's wives are open game

That is exactly correct. They wink among themselves. No marriage with women, but a lot of other stuff is a-okay.

It's all about how they define (and redefine) the words "celibacy" and "chastity."

After all, they are "another Christ." Who can deny them anything?

Almost lost among the hot-button issues is a matter that likely would have dominated any other general assembly: a proposal to completely change the church's form of government.

Good grief. They're working to destroy every Presbyterian distinctive. In great part, the way a church is governed is what defines that church. Ecclesiocracy matters.

“Newspeak”, Orwell, “1984”, “By 2050—earlier, probably—all real knowledge of Oldspeak will have disappeared. The whole literature of the past will have been destroyed. Chaucer, Shakespeare, Milton, Byron—they’ll exist only in Newspeak versions, not merely changed into something different, but actually contradictory of what they used to be. Even the literature of the Party will change. Even the slogans will change. How could you have a slogan like “freedom is slavery” when the concept of freedom has been abolished? The whole climate of thought will be different. In fact there will be no thought, as we understand it now. Orthodoxy means not thinking—not needing to think. Orthodoxy is unconsciousness”

Think about the changes in “mediator” or “redemption” or “co”.

What a great and scary quote.

"Orthodoxy is unconsciousness”

LOL. That's the goal. A 24-hour-a-day nap.

Think about the changes in “mediator” or “redemption” or “co

How long before the meaning of "Savior" changes?

Oh, wait. It already has.

A Savior doesn't save; He enables a man to save himself. A Savior doesn't justify the unGodly. He justifies those who already recognize their sins and want to repent. A Savior doesn't blot out the all the sins of His flock so that God will remember them no more. He only blots them out until they sin again...

You control the language, you control the debate.

Good grief. They're working to destroy every Presbyterian distinctive.

You folks are always welcome by us. We agree on all the important things and the things we disagree about make for lively discussions over dinner.

I know if my church was destroyed by the Bible hating liberals I would have no problem going over to your place.

In great part, the way a church is governed is what defines that church. Ecclesiocracy matters.

I agree with you completely. Let me add when Scripture is not the rule of faith the church is doomed to fall into error.
