Obama and Tish BaAv OBAMA AND TISH BA AV Posted on July 20, 2010 by billrandles
Today, July 20th- is Tish BaAv , the ninth day of the Hebrew month of Av, is a date of momentous significance to the children of Israel. The date became infamous when twice the Holy Temple of the LORD was destroyed on the 9th of Av, once in 587 BC and once again in 70 AD. There has also been a whole series of calamities that has fallen upon Israel on this day, as Judaism .about.com relates:
587 BCE (3338)- The First Temple is destroyed by the Babylonians, led by Nebuchadnezzar. The Jews are sent into what later became known as the Babylonian Exile.
70 CE (3830)- The Second Temple is destroyed by the Romans, led by Titus.
135 CE (3895) The Romans defeat Bar Kochbas last fortress, Betar, and destroy his army. Bar Kochba himself is killed along with more than 100,000 other Jews. The Roman Emperor Hadrian turns Jerusalem into a Roman city.
1290 (5050) King Edward I of England signs an edict expelling all Jews from England.
1492 (5252) The Alhambra Decree takes effect, expelling the Jews from Spain and from all Spanish territories.
1914 (5674) World War I begins when Germany declares war on Russia, setting the stage for World War II and the Holocaust.
1940 (5700) Himmler presents his plan for the Final Solution to the Jewish problem to the Nazi Party.
1942 (5702) Nazis begin deporting Jews from the Warsaw Ghetto. Sources: Aish.com and Jewish Literacy, by Rabbi Joseph Telushkin.
Here is a video we produced last year on the date of Tish Ba Av, which relates another ominous event on Tish Ba Av 2004, the emergence of an unknown and unnaccomplished politician from Illisnois, to meteoric media stardom, Obama!
Pray for God’s hand of protection on Israel.
God bless Israel and lead her to faith in the Messiah, the Son of David, Ye’shua. (Hope I transliterated that right, Jewish Christian friends.)
The good and bad thing about the Internet is that anyone can write anything. I wondered just who this Pastor Bill Randles is, and he is a Pentecostal preacher of a small non-denominational church. He does not list any credentials or formal education. I am leery of such persons. At least if someone is a member of an organized religious denomination, he has some supervision and educational qualifications. You have some insights into a person’s theological foundations. I would read such men as, Mr. Randles, with a skeptical eye.
I actually agree with you Nost- it isn’t about me(Pastor Bill Randles) it is about the Bible, the word of God. As for the denominational structure- where was the “supervision” in the world’s largest denomination, the Roman Catholic church, when pedophiles were being shufled to unsuspecting congregations? and when Episcopalians were ordaining homosexuals, and Anglican Bishops denying the resurrection? Such “supervision” is over rated dont ya think?
You are right, Bill Randles is nothing- the Word of God however will never pass away- be a berean, check it out !
Thank you once again Pastor Bill :)
