My wife and I went to Late Night Catechism a few years ago in the parish hall. I thought I’d die from hysterical laughter. Of course I thought it was hilarious the same way I think Tom Lehrer’s “Vatican Rag” is funny. The line “Ave Maria, Gee it’s good to see ya” pretty much sums up the current “Sign of Peace” perfectly.

I even won a crucifix penknife for being class monitor during intermission. That drives my conservative friends crazy. I don’t think Late Night Catechism is mocking Catholicism... I think it mocks us, but not the Faith. A very fine line I suppose.

I must be honest with you, I've never seen it. Do you remember SNL doing a skit where the actress was a Catholic school girl and her skirt was way short, and she was always sniffing her hands after rubbing her armpits? If so, what did you think of that? We thought it was so gross, we couldn't even watch it for a minute ...
