Christianity and Islam are diametrically opposed on many issues. However -- the National Association of Evangelicals has strongly condemned plans by a Florida church to burn copies of the Quran on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) - "The proposed burning of Qurans would be profoundly offensive to Muslims worldwide, just as Christians would be insulted by the burning of Bibles," the NAE said in a statement.
"Such an act would escalate tensions between members of the two faiths in the United States and around the world."
The church in question, the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, announced its plans on a Facebook page "in remembrance of the fallen victims of 9/11 and to stand against the evil of Islam," reads the announcement. "Islam is of the devil!"
The church has erected a sign that says "Islam is of the devil." On the church's Web site, the church justifies the sign by saying they are trying to "expose Islam for what it is. It is a violent and oppressive religion that is trying to mascarade (sic) itself as a religion of peace, seeking to deceive our society.
"The message of the truth that there is only one way to God, only one way to salvation, and that is through the blood of Jesus. Through the repenting of your sins and being born again. It is time that all Christians unite, stop being passive and selfish and stand up and fight for the truth."
Evangelical leaders suggest that the book burning be cancelled, and that the act would not be a demonstration of Christ's love.

While I am anything but a fan of Islamic culture, I don’t see anything good coming from this book burning. I’m against it. What’s the point, anyway? I say they should let Islam speak for itself. No further comment is needed.

Christians are offended every time they enter many Moslem countries because any Bible they might have with them is seized and destroyed.
Saudi Arabia is a good example of this ~ PLUS, there are certain versions of the Koran they seek out in your luggage and they destroy those too ~ lest heresy enter into the Kingdom of the Protector of the Two Holy Mosques!
Yes, the Saudi Arabian government destroys both Bibles and Korans with zeal.

As far as I am concerned, any “Christian” that stands for islam is no different than the wolves that St. Paul taught us would be invading the church. They MUST be purged. At the very least, they should not be allowed to speak “for” Christianity.

Burning books will hardly do away with an apostacy as enlarged as islam. If islam is an effront to the Almighty its end will be from the rot it contains. Rotten trees produce nothing good. They are only good for the fire.
When Satan showed Jesus Christ all the coming kingdoms of the earth and Christ refused to be the Lord of such, he was undoubtedly shown the kingdoms that comprise islam. Christ could not speak of the day or hour upon which the end of the false world of Satan would come. No matter what the faithful are to endure, only the kingdom they carry in their hearts bring them lasting peace.
Many, many children of peace may lend their prayer that all apostates enter and share the peace. Those that lead astray will meet their Maker, in His Patience.
Maybe the church should burn towers full of people, that made Muslims worldwide happy on 9/11.
After that we could put it on the back side of the Moon and tell the muzzies, "When you can retrieve it, we'll talk. Until then, STFU!"
Or, if you prefer, we could put it in space and threaten to send it into the sun to burn up, thereby releasing all of the muzzies' sins which it has soaked up.

Burning books is a vital tradition.
I wasn’t addressing book burning. I was commenting on stealing the Kabba Stone, sewing it into the carcass of a pig and hurling it toward the sun.
I tend to agree with the idea of burning the koran being a bad idea.
I plan on a better use for the koran. I will wrap my barbecued pork ribs with it and use its pages as place mats to catch all the delicious pork fat drippings.
