CALABASAS, Calif. -- Authorities say a car driven by the U.S. ambassador to Malta crashed in Southern California, killing a nun and injuring a 94-year-old pastor.
The California Highway Patrol says the nun and pastor were passengers in the car driver by Ambassador Douglas Kmiec. Kmiec also received moderate injuries in Wednesday's one-vehicle crash

The Vatican was also upset about the possible prospect of the appointment of Kmiec to the Vatican.
There is much controversy surrounding Kmiec because of his endorsement of Obama.
It should read:
... the nun and pastor were passengers in the car driven by Ambassador Douglas Kmiec.
{Change "driver" to "driven" on that line}
Stupid headline. What’s your point?
i like the headline. If readers here do not know who Kmiec is, they can read up.
I like the headline. Those who savvy and know who Kmiec is will get it.
If the passengers were killed while the driver received “moderate injuries,” the passengers probably weren’t wearing seat belts. When are people going to learn?
Maybe they rest in peace, and may Mr. Kmiec recover from his injuries, depart from evil, and learn to do good.
The accident was in California, and the nun, Sister Mary Campbell, appears to have been American, may she rest in peace.
You mean we’re supposed to read past the title? :)
Thus a baby killer is involved in the death of a nun...
Your opinion doesn’t belong in the headline. That’s FR policy.
Happens to me all the time!
I was curious as to the location of the crash, because the relevant law is very different depending on where it happened. I wonder if he’ll be charged, or if it will just be assumed it was all the car’s fault for going off the road. You know how Hyundais can be, frisking off into the weeds on a whim ...
You know how Hyundais can be, frisking off into the weeds on a whim ...*smiles* I wonder if this crash and nun's death will bring him back to the faith fully. What do you think?
I don’t know. Causing another person’s death is a *big thing*. A person who doesn’t experience something like a “moral earthquake” when that happens would have to be very hardened.
Perhaps Kmiec started veering off the road, and then when one of the passengers questioned him about it, he got defensive and dug in.
Perhaps now we’ll see a new book, “Can a Driver Ignore Them? Asking the Big Question about Road Lines.”
Prayers for the three of them, and Sister’s community.
That’s a funny post that really catches his attitude.
So Kmiec was the driver, huh?
Not good for him.
