I side with Christopher West. Have you taken any of his classes?

**Sometimes a candle is just a candle**

Exactly. I thought it was supposed to symbolize light. But, I guess that would be too easy.

The welfare state locks folks into poverty and subverts the role of the Church, like most things gubberment is involved with. The “war on poverty” is just a phrase that does the opposite of what it implies.

Yes. You know that and I know that. Sadly, numerous well-meaning voters take the respective ads and self-descriptions of the parties at their word, i.e., Dems care about the poor and Repubs don't. If the Republicans aren't going to explain the facts, who is? Certainly not the Dems -- the current state of ignorance works fine for them! Certainly not the MSM, many of whom probably believe it themselves.

You wrote:

You also wrote:

“Christian Democrat is a oxymoron, but unfortunately Catholic Democrat is not. Why you would want to defend those that vote against the Gospel of Christ, is beyond me.”

1) I never brought up either “Catholic Democrat” or “Christian Democrat” so I have no idea why you tried to make a point about something I never brought up.

2) I defended no one other than the bishops and the Church. I never defended anyone, anywhere who “vote against the Gospel of Christ”.

3) Please do not invent straw men saying I did or said something I never said. To me that is a form of lying. If I didn’t say it, please don’t even imply I did.

“That is absolutely fact! When a person votes democrat in any way shape or form, they spit on Christ. You can not have it both ways.”

I don’t want it both ways. The simple fact is, however, that other people don’t think as clearly as you and I do.

One could easily make the case against voting at all.

Not voting at all??? In my mind not voting at all is just as bad as voting Democrat. It would be saying, yes Lord I am fine with your children being aborted, and I am fine with your Name being taken out of the public square, and I am fine with young children being told by teachers that they may be homosexual etc etc etc
