In "The Road to New Life," Phil Rehberg presents a complete explanation of salvation. In the process he examines a common problem in American Christianity -- "instant" conversion experiences that do not lead to changed hearts. After serving as a pastor for two years, running a small law firm, and leading several successful ministries at his local church, Rehberg sensed God leading him to study today's Christianity and why it is so ineffective when it comes to transforming lives. What he found was a pattern of weak gospel presentations -- salvation messages that emphasized God's love but left out crucial points on sin, and our need for repentance and surrender to Jesus. "The Road to New Life" is an ideal guide that takes readers step-by-step through the gospel and salvation process.

Doesn't the Bible do that?
Jesus already paid for free copies to be handed out and preached.
I knew there would be a post like this. :-0
This is for Christians that want to witness to friends and neighbors.
Christians who want to witness to friends and neighbors can’t find the information they need in the Bible?
Why would you be disgusted about a Pastor writing a book to try and help Christians be better witnesses for Jesus Christ?
Have you ever read a commentary on a passage, or book, in Scripture?
Have you ever read a message given by a Pastor on his understanding of something?
Why the disdain for a book written by a Pastor to try and help Christians be better witnesses for Jesus Christ?
“left out crucial points on sin, and our need for repentance and surrender to Jesus.”
Well, duh!
I happen to agree with that point and the fact that evangelization of late has been downgraded and corrupted to a “feel good”, “Jesus loves you” broken record. I see too many lives not changed. A Kumbaya moment at a summer camp, a tearful alter call and that’s about it. =(
Is it a sign of our politically correct times? We can never say anything critical of anybody else. Might make them feel bad!
But, yes, I think it’s all been written before ;-)
Assuming Glen Beck is correct and we need to get back to God ... and as any born again believer knows ... you can't get back to someplace you've never been.
Time is of the essence.
Yes, I have. I read lots of religious books.
However, if a person believes Scripture contains everything necessary for salvation, I don't see why he would believe his own book is also necessary. It could be a really nice book, for all I know; plenty of the ones I own are. I just think the concept is intellectually inconsistent.
Do you know The Gospel?
But a pastor has a (seemingly) better idea ... what is it?
There is enough truth to this message that most do not openly condemn it. It is a ’worldly’ message, leaving out Christ Jesus commandments, etc. that is covertly understood to mean one can do most anything he/she wants, and it can be forgiven. Of course, it can be forgiven, when one is in true sincerity and repentance of heart, having a changed life!
This is a poor sample of what the reality has become. Sorry. It would take a book. I find I am not expressing this well. so I will quit.
Doesn't the Bible do that?
Of course it does!
The Bible is the litmus test for a Christian!
What this does is show others, who often have a dislike, disdain or avoidance of the Bible to get to those still working up to “milk”.
Many people don't see the Bible as what is needed for Christian teachings so to you as a Catholic, you look to your Pope. Right? You go by the teachings of the Pope.
This is simply another method by a Bible based Pastor to explain Christianity in terms a nonbeliever can understand.
If you object to this, you may want to question how you, as a Catholic accept teachings outside the Bible. You also claim to believe in the Bible, right?
Catholics believe in the Bible plus tradition, right?
Christians accept only Bible teachings from an infallible God.
I’m not objecting to this gentleman’s publication at all. I freely admit that I seek out sources in addition to the Bible in order to understand and share my faith.
I missed this part, because one of my sons had changed the window size on my computer. (I hate when they do that.)
Are you saying that the author of the book discussed in the original post is not a Christian, then, because he has produced material, which he considers important, in addition to the Bible?
“In The Road to New Life, Phil Rehberg presents a complete explanation of salvation.”
So as a Catholic, you find this acceptable, right and he charges $8.75 for it.

So what’s wrong with a Bible based Christian helping unbelievers discover Christ and have Him alone as their Savior?
I don’t see consistency in your objection to a Protestant making their beliefs easy to understand to a nonbeliever.
