"What if church wasn't just a building, but thousands of doors?" asks a new website launched by the United Methodist Church. "Each of them opening up to a different concept or experience of church. . . . Would you come?" After watching its membership drop nearly 25 percent in recent decades, the United Methodist Church, which is still the nation's largest mainline Protestant denomination, thinks it knows the answer. So it's pouring $20 million into a new marketing campaign, including the website, television advertisements, even street teams in some cities, to rebrand the church from stale destination to "24-7 experience."...

There is a serious threat against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It has a name. The name is Andrew Price. He belongs to an evangelistic group that goes about teaching against all other churches. This group has a website and on this website you can click on a myriad of different religions and read what this church teaches against any specific religion. The name of the online church is being withheld because this article will not be used as a forum for that church. Several different ministers, preachers, pastors,in other words, paid clergy for that church...

Major American Jewish groups say their relationship with Roman Catholic leaders is at risk because of a recent statement by U.S. bishops' on salvation and evangelizing. Jewish leaders say that they interpret the bishops' new document as a plan to evangelize Jews during interfaith dialogue. Jews say they can't participate in a dialogue under those conditions. The bishops had issued the declaration in June. They said that the church doesn't evangelize Jews but will invite them to the faith when it's appropriate. The Jewish protest was made Thursday by the Anti-Defamation League, the American Jewish Committee, and rabbis

"He is no fool who gives up that which he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose." Recently four Christians were beheaded by an Al Qaeda-linked group in Somalia for... being Christians. Specifically for refusing to renounce Jesus- which would have gained them release. Not surprisingly, the practitioners of the "religion of peace" who perpetrated this act are now refusing to even ret More..urn the bodies to their families for burial.

Go West, young man! For most evangelicals, Jesus instruction in Matthew 28:19 to Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations is a serious command, and it is an integral part of the mission statement of most churches. A great many churches take up special offerings and allocate funds towards missionaries they support. The western world countries (where Christianity once flourished) are still where the majority of missionaries are supported from, often by the prayers and small monthly donations from faithful Christians that want to be the hands and feet of Jesus in countries they will probably...

Isaiah, the Fifth Evangelist by OneVikeIn today's message, I would like to broaden your understanding of the book Christ read from while in the synagogue of His home town, Luke_4:16-30 so that you may better appreciate the book written by the Fifth Evangelist. While Isaiah is the most often quoted prophet in the New Testament, his book can be as obscure as it is interesting. Even many Christians will admit they know very little about the book and what it has to offer for their walk with Christ. Other than being familiar with a few famous passages that foretold the...

In a thread in The Arts, Superb made reference to an interview Donny Deutsch conducted last October with Ann Coulter on his show The Big Idea. (CNBC) During a portion of the interview, Coulter was asked to discuss her point of view on diversity in the United States. Then she got off on a bit of a tangent about how everyone should be a Christian. Coulter made several references to Christians as perfected Jews; she indicated that while Jews have to obey The Law in order to be saved, Christians have the fast-track to salvation through Jesus Christs death and...

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--If you're in charge of what is thought to be one of the most powerful, influential and important megachurches in the United States, if not the world, how do you make sure that your message is reaching the largest possible audience? To Brady Boyd, the lead pastor at the New Life Church here, the famous, 10,000-plus member nondenominational church that's directly across Interstate 25 from the It's not that the New Life Church is light years ahead of anyone else--in fact, it may well even be slightly behind some other churches--but to Boyd the key is that he...

For the first time in its five-year history, the media arm of Campus Crusade for Christ recorded over one million decisions for Jesus Christ in a single month. In its announcement Wednesday, CCCs Global Media Outreach (GMO) reported that 1,030,581 people indicated either a first-time decision to follow Jesus or a decision to recommit their life to Christ through one of more than 90 GMO-hosted Gospel Web sites in June. "This is an historic event only possible by God's power," said GMO founder and chair Walt Wilson. "Over the past few months, we have seen an increasing number of people...

In a rocky job market, there is one field that has thousands of openings waiting to be filled. Wycliffe Bible Translators, the worlds largest organization of its kind, is looking for workers with a range of skills to assist in the translation of the scriptures into the last remaining languages. Of course, a large number will go into translation, said Chuck Michaels of Wycliffe to Mission Network News. But for every translator team we send out we need three support personnel: people who are pilots, IT personnel, teachers that will teach missionary children, managers that will help us in our...

The Pride Festival kicked off in Loring Park Saturday. There were live bands, food and thousands of people. It's now the third-largest gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender celebration in the country. But there was some trouble there Saturday night. Minneapolis Police arrested three people from Hayward, Wis. for trespassing. An amateur photographer named Aaron Bogle gave WCCO-TV video of a father, mother and son being arrested. For 11 years, Brian and Doris Johnson have passed out free Bibles at the festival. This year, they were not allowed to have a booth. Pride paid to rent the whole park and that...

A Love Letter from Our Heavenly Father?by OneVike When asked by His disciples to teach them how to pray as the John's disciples prayed, Jesus gave them this prayer as a model. Luke 11:1-2 Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen....

Pope Benedict XVI Vatican City, Jun 17, 2009 / 10:29 am (CNA).- Pope Benedict XVI dedicated today's general audience to the example of Sts. Cyril and Methodius, apostles of the Slavs and co-patrons of Europe, who modeled the importance of bringing the Gospel to new cultures using their own language and customs. The Pope began by sketching a brief biography of the saints for the 25,000 pilgrims in St. Peter's Square. Cyril, born in Thessalonica around the year 826, was ordained at an early age. His older brother Methodius, born about the year 815, abandoned his own administrative career...

The gospel in America, generally speaking, has suffered a serious reduction (i.e., knowing some facts about Jesus, making a personal decision for Christ based on these facts, and that this constitutes the full extent of the gospel message and mission). I also argued that such reductionism is not consistent with the Scriptures and that this reduction of the gospel has dramatically altered the modern Christians conception of his purpose and mission away from the biblical prescription. In the wake of such an audacious charge, the admonition given in Jeremiah seems a fitting place to begin my defense of these claims:...

A campus evangelism group is stunned today, as a ministry event at a community college in Ohio resulted in four members being arrested, one on a felony assault charge that the ministry's leader claims is fabricated. "We train people to do evangelism, and I have never seen an incident like this." Storms and a team of students earlier this week traveled to Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio, with signs,...

He will never come to Christ! (Arthur Pink, "The Sovereignty of God") "You will not come to Me--that you might have life." John 5:40 "No one can come to Me--unless the Father who sent Me draws him." John 6:44 Why is it, that no one can come to Christ unless he is 'drawn'? The answer is, Because his wicked heart loves sin--and hates Christ! The heart of the every man is so "desperately wicked" that if he is left to himself--he will never come to Christ! For the sinner to come to Christ that he might have life, is for...

The co-chairman of the Bilateral Commission of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and the Holy See is urging Pope Benedict to state publicly that Jews need not convert to Catholicism. Rabbi Shear Yashuv Cohen, who addressed the Synod of Bishops last October, writes: In the Second Vatican Council and the Nostra Aetate document, it was made clear that no efforts would be made by the Catholic Church to convert Jews. Rather, the Jewish people should continue the faith of its forefathers as expressed in the Bible and rabbinic literature. The Jewish people remain a people of Gods covenant, a people...

The Pope brings the Truth to the Middle East - not a peace plan By George Pitcher. 10 May 2009 Pope Benedict XVI arrives in Israel today, amid some of the tightest security ever to accompany a visiting dignitary. Unsurprising at any time, given the febrile and fractious nature of Middle East diplomacy, but a particularly vulnerable aura surrounds the Pope on this tour, as a consequence of recent events that have again poisoned the well of Jewish-Christian relations. The fear is that the lone fanatic with a gun will have gained renewed motivation from the Pope's apparent enthusiasm for...

Two Internet radio stations are making Orthodox programming readily available The Rev. Tom Soroka, pastor of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in McKees Rocks, reaches the Orthodox throughout the country and the world through an Internet radio station called Ancient Faith Radio. While most Americans slept, Orthodox Christians gathered outside their churches last night carrying icons and candles for a midnight procession in which they would restore light to the darkened interiors, celebrating Jesus' Resurrection from death. Easter -- Pascha in Orthodox parlance -- is the joyous highlight of their liturgical year. But most of their neighbors are oblivious to it...

This refers to the method of conducting a Sunday morning church service where all the events surrounding the service are tailored with the unchurched in mind. The goal of this model is to attempt to make the seeker feel comfortable by making the service understandable and enjoyable. In this sense, the church is attempting to build a bridge with the unbeliever with the ultimate goal that they will hear the Gospel and be saved. The preaching model in the seeker churches follows suit. Every sermon is simply another way to present the Gospel. Deeper learning, fellowship, and discipleship are encouraged...

A close aide to Ronald Reagan has claimed that the former US president tried to convert the Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to Christianity.A new biography that draws on recently declassified documents discloses a secret exchange between the two leaders that left at least one official present convinced that Reagan had tried to persuade his counterpart of God's existence. The Rebellion of Ronald Reagan, by the former Los Angeles Times reporter James Mann, provides fresh insight into the former US president's religious convictions and the role they played in foreign policy. Reagan had apparently reached a conviction, which has since become...

Then Nigel H, an atheist from the US, hurls elephants about science and asserts that God deceived us and set up Adam and Eve to fail. Dr Sarfati explains some of the science and why God did NOT entrap the first couple...

Over half of Americans say they would visit a church if they receive a personal invitation from a family member, friend or neighbor, a new study shows. The latest LifeWay Research survey found that people are most willing to hear about a local congregation through a family member (63 percent) and through a friend or neighbor from the church (56 percent). Less than half are open to receive information about a church any other way, such as through an advertisement. Moscow, March 20, Interfax - In 1980s, the idea that religion might change the Soviet system preoccupied US President Ronald Reagan. This is testified by the notes taken by two Reagan aides during the meeting between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev. According to these documents recently declassified and made available at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, Calif., Reagan secretly attempted to persuade Gorbachev of the existence of God, Vedomosti. Pyatnitsa newspaper reports. During their fourth summit meeting in 1988, Reagan launched into a private conversation with Gorbachev, one that he promised he would deny had ever taken place. The...

It was the question that preoccupied President Ronald Reagan: Was Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev a religious believer? Reagan held a series of summits with Gorbachev from 1985 to 1988, and as their meetings proceeded, Reagan sometimes speculated to his aides that Gorbachev's use of phrases such as "God bless" might be an expression of religious faith. Many of the summit sessions involved large groups of U.S. and Soviet officials, discussing issues like arms control and regional conflicts. But in one-on-one talks with Gorbachev outside the presence of other senior officials like Secretary of State George Shultz, Reagan sometimes ventured off...

The new president of HCJB Global says the Christian radio ministry now has an estimated seven million mostly-Muslim listeners in North Africa and the Middle East. Wayne Pederson says the Arab world is full of "lost people who need Jesus, and they're getting tired of a message of hate and are looking for a message of love." He says that through HCJB radio broadcasts, the gospel is penetrating Muslim societies -- so much so that entire households, and in some cases entire villages, are converting to Christianity. When Jesus came, He didn't just preach. He healed. And so we want...

My church sponsored an event called Global Impact Celebration last week, in which missionaries from around the world came and visited with various groups at this 6000-member congregation, to give a glimpse into the life of a Christian missionary. It was, to say the least, enlightening. Some of the missionaries were Americans, sent by various "sending agencies" to preach the gospel and plant churches in places like Thailand, Colombia, Costa Rica and (don't get ahead of me) France. Others are indigenous missionaries in, to name a few, Mexico, Pakistan, Ukraine, Cambodia (Kampuchea, as he informed us - "nobody in Cambodia...

As much as I appreciated what Rick Warren did in his faith presidential forum several months ago, his appearance last evening on one of my favorite programs, Hannity and Colmes, was disappointing. What Pastor Warren responded with to some of host's Allan Colmes simple yet important questions was not the biblical gospel of salvation or even a reasonable defense of the gospel. One of his responses? "Try Jesus...?" As Colmes sarcastically quipped in response: "Like the book of the month club..." Beloved, why can't evangelical leaders just speak the truth in love and give the gospel of the Lord Jesus...

On this day 90 years ago, a son was born to a dairy farmer just outside of Charlotte. About 74 years ago that boy gave his life to Jesus Christ. Billy Graham has been preaching the Gospel ever since. When Barack Obama takes the oath of office on Jan. 20, 2009, he will do so in the 30th anniversary year of the founding of the so-called Religious Right. Born in 1979 and midwifed by the late Rev. Jerry Falwell, the Religious Right was a reincarnation of previous religious-social movements that sought moral improvement through legislation and court rulings. Those earlier movementsfrom abolition (successful) to Prohibition (unsuccessful)had mixed results. Social movements that relied mainly on political power to enforce a conservative moral code weren't anywhere near as successful as those that focused on changing hearts. The four religious revivals, from...

For several weeks now, I have been slowly realizing again the call of Christ when it comes to pursuing things of eternal significance. The election had consumed me to the point of where I became a ranting idiot and hated the Democrats. The Spirit has convicted me, showing that hatred isn't the way, for no man should be hated. Yes, I still find myself in "battle mode" quite often; those ranting moments still occur. But, thanks to God's faithfulness and calling, I am not the same man that I was just a few months back. With churches largely mapping out their local mission around what they identify to be an "unchurched" population, a research firm set out to paint a clearer picture of who unchurched Americans really are. “There’s a whole industry seeking to help clergy reach the unchurched, with seminars, books, videos, training centers, and consultants,” Ron Sellers, president of Ellison Research, noted. “However, many people don’t really have a basic notion even of just what it means to be ‘unchurched.’ There’s often an assumption that people either do attend worship services, or they don’t." "But what we find in this study is that...
