Hindus smell greed in Vatican declaring "Simpsons" as Catholics

Hindus have blamed Vatican for mere greed in claiming animated television family "The Simpsons" as Catholics.

Why would Vatican need to enroll a dysfunctional cartoon family into its flock when Roman Catholic numbers were already about 1.17 billion (or about 17.4 percent of world population), eminent Hindu statesman Rajan Zed wondered in a statement in Nevada (USA) today.

A recent edition of "L'Osservatore Romano", 149 years old daily Italian newspaper of the Holy See, declared Homer J. Simpson and his son Bart of the animated cartoon family of American sitcom series "The Simpsons" as Catholics. But Simpsons' executive producer Al Jean later contradicted in the media that Simpsons were not Catholic and instead attended Presbylutheran church.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, further said that claiming fictional cartoon characters from the world of television as your flock was exaggeration, wishful thinking and plain old greed.

So, was this the follow-up to the call of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI on World Youth Day in Sydney (Australia) in 2008 of building a greed-free world, Rajan Zed asked?

Zed quoted ancient Hindu scripture, Bhagavad-Gita, which says: there are three gates to self-destructive hell-greed, anger, and desire. Abandon these three. A person freed from these three gates of darkness, seeks what is best and attains life's highest goal.

Created for Fox by Matt Groening, "The Simpsons", longest-running American animated television series comedy in history, debuted in 1989, has reportedly won 27 Emmy Awards and Time magazine named it as the best television series of 20th century. "The Simpson" family reportedly has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Giovanni Maria Vian is the Editor-in-Chief of "L'Osservatore Romano". (ANI)

I rather think Professor Z would do well to worry more about that other creed which is determined to slaughter him and his than about the motives of the Vatican.

I’m pretty sure that a newspaper reporter and the Vatican are distinct entities, and shouldn’t be confused with one another.

Meanwhile, back in India, the Catholics are feeding the starving people while the Hindus feed monkeys and rats.

No one can tell me that some religions are better than others.

That should read: “No one can tell me that some religions aren’t better than others.” My typo.

“I’m pretty sure that a newspaper reporter and the Vatican are distinct entities, and shouldn’t be confused with one another.”

Sure, you and I know that.

But, for whatever reason, there are a lot of turds who claim the mantle of the Pontiff for their own purposes by purporting to act for the “Vatican” (a building), from this offical newspaper, to the “synod” of anti-semetic middle east Bishops who claimed Jewish people are outdated and need to get the heck out of Israel (oversimplifying).

Some sort of structural reform to prevent these idiots from over-stepping their apparent authority needs to be put in place.

I mean, this is stupid, but if I was an outsider, I would think the official Vatican paper was a pretty authoritative source. I happen to know better.

So, I am not going to pick on outsiders misunderstanding.

It’s pretty clear an internal house-cleaning is in order.

The Simpsons regularly attend The First Church of Springfield which is Protestant...of course you'll have to ask Reverend Lovejoy for details...

Rev. Lovejoy: No Homer, God didn't burn your house down, but he was working in the hearts of your friends be they Christian, Jew, or... miscellaneous.
Apu: Hindu. There are seven hundred million of us.
Rev. Lovejoy: Aww, that's super.

"The Simpsons" is Hindu.

One of my favorite Simpson's moments (from when I still watched it. Hearing Homer bellow out a casual blasphemy on network TV soured it for me.) was when Apu came to the Simpson's door to whine about some twist of fate in his life. Homer opened the door and bellowed "Fool! Don't you realize karma is apportioned by the cosmos!"
