Arizona shootings: Why did God allow it?
Washington Post ^ | Jan. 11, 2010 | Julia Duin

Last Saturday's shooting tragedy at a Tucson, Ariz., supermarket is stunning in its randomness. ... Whenever these awful tragedies: Columbine, September 11, Virginia Tech and others, happen, there comes the theodicy question. Why did God allow this evil to happen to innocent people? Why did perfectly innocent bystanders at a Tucson supermarket on a Saturday morning find themselves at the wrong place at the wrong time?

A will in bondage to sin is anything but free.

I think the Almighty pointed the way when he didn’t strike dumb the writer of the song, “I didn’t promise you a rose garden.”

Good question. Why didn’t G-d stop it?

G-d is in control—isn’t He?

There are just way too many stupid people for me. I question the All Mighty with it in my prayers and will longsuffer thru the patience required till the day I see His face. It will all be understood then, I am sure.

...and we will be amazed!

God has given man free will.
We have the choice to do right and follow the correct path or we can chose to do man ways and follow our own paths.
Many many human beings chose the wrong paths in regards to the shooter in this case.

God won’t do everything we want unless it serves him and many others. We are rather small minded, ignorant, of what is really going on.

Wait a second...

First we have to start with: Why did God allow the Washington Post?

The lyrics are "I never promised you a rose garden," the writer is Joe South, one of the all-time greats...and I'm not positive something hasn't rendered him dumb since, IMHO.

...in a fallen world.
I just can’t get over how often we have to repeat that. I’m guessing you feel the same way.

Clearly, when I speak of the “world”, I mean the world after the transgressions. That is the only world you and I and the shooting victims have had an opportunity to inhabit.

God created a real world, and sin entered into it. Adam and Eve were thrown out of the garden.

God was booted out of most public discourse a very long time ago. I think this is probably more Satan than the Lord, as many in the world serve him.

Everything has a purpose, if nothing else then to show how godless as a nation we’ve become as is evident by the comments of the Wash Compost. Why they even bother having a religious section is beyond me. But then, that to is a purpose of God. :O)

Why did God allow this evil to happen to innocent people?

The more appropriate question is why doesn’t God just kill us all and send us straight to hell for our sins?
