Are you eating food sacrificed to idols?

When you bite into a delicious pizza, succulent sandwich or luscious lamb chops, are you possibly eating food that has been sacrificed to idols?

An outspoken American pastor says yes, and he's sounding the alarm for Christians to be aware of the Islamic influence he calls "backdoor Shariah" now nibbling its way across the fruited plain.

At issue, says Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries in Bonney Lake, Wash., is eating food that's "halal," in other words "lawful" or "permitted" for the Muslim diet.

Muslims join many Jews and some Christians in avoiding the consumption of certain animals such as pigs and birds of prey, but those of the Islamic faith also have their meat blessed in the name of their god, Allah.

"From the Christian standpoint, Allah would be an idol," Biltz told WND.

In a sermon last weekend which he posted online, Biltz explained, "In order for it to be halal, they have to slaughter the animal facing Mecca ... and they have to say this prayer about Allah is great and greater than all other gods. Muslims can only eat food that is halal, that has been sacrificed to their idol, Allah ... and with Allah's name prayed over it."

"You could be eating beef, chicken, etc., offered up to Allah and not even know it. I can just imagine at a Passover Seder the caterer unbeknownst to anyone is serving halal meat! It could be on your pizza without you knowing it, or at your favorite restaurant. People don't realize they could be eating meat sacrificed to idols!"

I wonder what other people in your apartment building say?

And the people at the leash free area of your city park must be terrified to see you :-)

In 1 Corinthians 10, the Apostle Paul lays out what is essentially a “don’t ask, don’t tell policy” regarding meats sacrificed to idols. My take is that Christians should probably not eat meat that they know is halal, but do not need to worry about unknowingly eating it and should not ask if meat is halal.

I won’t eat meat that is labeled or advertised as halal. That said, it might not be completely clear whether halal food is actually “sacrificed” to the muslim moon god when it is blessed in its name.

25 Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no questions for conscience’ sake; 26 for “the earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness.”
27 If any of those who do not believe invites you to dinner, and you desire to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no question for conscience’ sake. 28 But if anyone says to you, “This was offered to idols,” do not eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for conscience’ sake; for “the earth is the LORD’s, and all its fullness.” 29 “Conscience,” I say, not your own, but that of the other. For why is my liberty judged by another man’s conscience? 30 But if I partake with thanks, why am I evil spoken of for the food over which I give thanks?
31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. - 1 Corinthians 10:25-31

“You could be eating beef, chicken, etc., offered up to Allah and not even know it.”

Key words, “not even know it”. Regarding things like this, if you don’t know it, you didn’t do it. Eating food that you KNOW was sacrificed to idols is not the same thing as eating food that was “sacrificed to idols” but there was no clue that it had been. The former is all we can control, and all we, as Christians, are responsible for.

One needs to also consider what “sacrificed to idols” really means.

This is sad.

Only those who are new or haven’t built up their faith enough would have trouble with this. But why bring it up? So that those who are weak can be made afraid? Why not preach that Christ and the Father are bigger and are GOD and some demon named allah is not to be feared? What possible point could there be to all of this?

Preach Christ and HIS salvation. That would be more important.

I eat Kosher, too, so what? Food is food. I couldn’t care less who blessed it, idolized it, or said a prayer before it.

If one looks up the word “blessed” and the word “sacrificed”, they will find two completely different meanings. One is not the other.

Mat 15:11 What goes into a man’s mouth does not make him ‘unclean,’ but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him ‘unclean.’ “

Or in the case of the is pastor, makes him an idiot.

In the Bible, Paul was the one eating the meat, there was nothing wrong with it, just be careful about those weak in the faith who might stumble.

In the above statement the author makes the mental leap that the food is sacrificed merely because it is “prayed over”. That is a grossly incorrect inference.

That is very interesting. I wonder if I get invited to a friends home who is not Catholic during Lent and they are having steaks. I can eat them without sin? Wow. I like this little quote that is not mentioned much. I wonder if the Catholic Bible says the same? Or are you Catholic?????? I HOPE.....lol.

I was driving around SeaTac airpoirt a few months ago and in a five block radius found no fewer than 3 “halal” markets.

Very true. Allah is merely the monotheisation of Hubal, an ANE astral and fertility god.

I don't care. I seriously could care less. I eat what i want to eat and don't care if it has been blessed, sacrificed or even has some sort of curse. Why anyone would care about this is beyond me.

I care--or should I say CAIR--and appear to be in the minority.

It is NOT whether anything I eat has been "blessed" by some Mullah-Mullah, with incantations over their faux, pagan, god, any more than eating Kosher foods....

IT'S the fact of "LEGITIMIZING" the Mooozies!

That and my NOT wanting to support them in any way, shape or form as they labor (stealthily) towards ever more of injecting Islam/Sharia into our lives, be it a Mosque at Ground Zero, a Crescent-Shaped Memorial in Pa to honor the heroes of Flt 93 or, Sharia ("No Interest") banking, Courts making rulings based on the Qur'an, eating any foods which they insist must be slaughtered according to Islam in order to be considered "acceptable," etc.

Start doing a little due diligence, all, as to "Sharia Creep" and maybe, just maybe, some will reconsider.

As for me, I WILL begin looking for Halal labels and asking if any meat I purchase is same.

It's the principle, donthca know?

“Mat 15:11 What goes into a man’s mouth does not make him ‘unclean,’ but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him ‘unclean.’”

You, like most Christians, need to learn context.

Of course, it doesn’t make you “unclean” (that is, unable to approach God through prayer.)

That is not at issue, and has to be read in context, and harmonized with the entire Bible.

There is a black letter teaching, in Acts, to for Christians to avoid eating meat sacrificed to idols, blood, and from living animals.

Meat sacrificed to idols should be avoided because you give credence (credibility) to the religion that is partaking in the sacrifice.

It doesn’t make you “unclean,” except by the fact that you are (indirectly) taking part in a pagan ritual, which makes the pagans look “OK” to outsiders.

Me, I don’t want to endorse Islam.

Pretty sure "food sacrificed to idols" was dealt with by Paul who said:

Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat such food they think of it as having been sacrificed to an idol, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled. But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do.

Stop looking for things to be upset about!
