On The Eve of Valentine's Day, [Homosexual] Protesters Converge on Holy Name [Cathedral, Chicago]

On the eve of Valentine's Day, Helen Moshak pinned rainbow ribbons to her white knit cap and returned to the Roman Catholic Church she left five years ago, dismayed by its opposition to gay marriage when two of her three children are gay.

The 76-year-old Skokie woman did not step foot inside Holy Name Cathedral, the storied seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago.

Nor did she join in the picket line of about 60 men and women — her son Damian Moshak and his partner among them — protesting the Catholic Church's stance on gay marriage and other stances they see as unjust to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

Rather, Moshak stood across the street from the downtown cathedral and held a sign that read: "Catholic parents of gay kids know that all are equal before God."

"I feel a bit shy. But then again, it's the right thing to do," Moshak said.

The protest, called a Freedom to Marry Day, marked the second year that gay rights activists gathered outside the cathedral around Valentine's Day to champion gay rights and target the Catholic Church.

"If we're going to win marriage equality within this state, we'll have to be out in the streets like we are today," said Andy Thayer, co-founder of the Gay Liberation Network, which helped organize the protest.

Theirs were not the only signs on display as parishioners skirted picket lines on their way to worship.

Last sentence should read: “If marriage is just the means by which we exercise the right to be with the person we love, same-sex marriage is just a feeble start to all the changes we’re going to have to make to the definition of marriage.”

None of these idiots are protesting “The Church's stance on gay marriage”. They are protesting God's stance on homosexual behavior.

The Church is not in a position to change God's immutable laws.

Well said. We should pray for these people, and for each other.

Since homosexuals (and everyone else) has been exposed millions of times to the lie that people are “born gay” and cannot change, no wonder many homosexuals don’t want to change. They don’t know that the possibility exists.

They don’t believe they need saving since they don’t believe they sin. Makes one shudder doesn’t it?

More proof that the goals of the homosexual agenda are not to be "tolerated" but to force the normalization of not just homosexual behavior, but a host of other aberrent behaviors, on everyone else. The Catholic Church is a special target because unlike many Protestant denominations, it has not succumbed to the "gay is good" life. Although many homosexuals infiltrated the priesthood a few decades ago, apparently that is being taken care of (could be a little faster but I am not a Catholic).

Facts You Won’t See in the Homosexual Pamplets:

1. Of the reports alleging, or promising soon down the road, a “gay” gene, not a single one has survived scientific peer review. There is no “gay” gene.

2. On the other hand, the evidence does show that homosexual persons are indeed victims — but overwhelmingly of their own behavior, not that of others.

3. Typical homosexual behavior includes regular contact with fecal matter from oneself and from sexual partners, tragically reversing several centuries of learning about cleanliness, and thus several centuries of growing lifespan. Homosexual behavior makes no more sense than playing in the toilet.

4. All available evidence indicates that the lifespan of practicing homosexual persons is drastically shortened by their behavior. No reliable study indicates otherwise. The lifespan topic is taboo among homosexual advocates because the evidence is so damaging to their case.

two of her three kids are homosexuals.

I wonder if there was a father and if she actually brought her kids up with all the attention kids need or was it a case of you have to find yourselves and explore.

The Sodomites outside Lots house were apparently not destroyed with the City; they’re in Chicago now doing the same thing.

my thoughts too.

Always churches never mosques.

I’d actually have a little more respect if they actually went and protested those who want them dead instead of pickking easy targets.

If anyone knows any of their so called homosexual friends then ask them please why they mock Christians, go outside churches invade services but never go after muslims.

I’d be curious as to their answer

my thoughts too.

Maybe the mother needs to look at herself and how she raised her kids instead of blaming a church

Well, it beats the other Chicago Valentine’s Day tradition.

When confronting perverted homosexuals all one need do is simple. Just state you were born this way! Straight and proud of it! This way the perverted homosexuals cannot chant homophob bs.

I am not sure they are proud. They are like Cyrano and his nose. Even when they wax poetical, I sense a deep sadness.

They have no hope of converting the Muslims and that is downright dangerous, but experience has shown them they can take over churches, or if not, then to marginalize them.

I really wish the congregation would surround these “protesters” and start praying for the salvation. A nice “Forgive them Father” prayer would be nice. Sing loud and strong!

Remember the fuss they caused when the former Pope said the Church didn’t have a pedophile problem, they had a homosexual problem? They cannot handle the truth, I say give them more of it.

You have a spirit and intellect that would be welcome in the Church. Consider this an invitation to join us.

It’s more along the lines of dbout. I bring this up because in Canada and the Netherlands, now that they have marriage, they protest what is largely a consequence of their behavior. It appears more along the line of denial. Either way, of all the things that make me come close, or even actually cry, this issue is one of them, forgetting even the word marriage, why does one have to commit a behavior that goes against pretty much everything we have had to learn about sanitation in the past few centuries, why commit a behavior that is harmful to both the most vulnerable parts of one’s body as well as the parts for removing harmful waste. It saddens me more than ever that people have to bother engaging in such behavior from the start. It also saddens me that some people have to stoop this low in trying to argue against religion. I miss the days of arguing through the good ol’ metaphysics. Either way, I pray and express how I feel about the matter, some flack yes, but even I cannot measure up to the fact that our Lord Jesus died for the sake of those (including us now) he was trying to save from themselves (or ourselves).
