Report: Leading Army Priest Says Chaplains Will Help Soldiers Accept Gay Lifestyles
Catholic Culture ^ | 2/18/11

The deputy chief of chaplains of the United States Army told fellow army chaplains on February 17 that “the upcoming end to ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’ which will allow openly gay and lesbian individuals to enlist and for soldiers who have hidden their preferences to come out, if they want, means Army chaplains will have a major part in preparing the service to accept the lifestyles of some,” according to an Arizona newspaper’s summary of his remarks.

Father Donald Rutherford, a priest of the Diocese of Albany who holds the rank of brigadier general, reportedly added that “you don’t have to agree with them, you will respect them and help them.”

In 2003, Father Rutherford signed a petition calling for optional celibacy for priests.

Or..........some chaplains may feel that this is not part of the mission of a Christian pastor and may resign their commission.

That will pretty much end the LCMS relationship with the military.

So, this “chaplin” will be advising soldiers to render unto Caesar that which is God’s. (”by their fruit you shall know them”)

Well, they did such a nice job telling the alter boys about the gay lifestyle, this should be a breeze.

"Like to hear them say that to the Muslim Chaplains."

Great point. That is going to be quite an interesting dynamic. The DoD has gone out of their way with their Muslim outreach programs. But, even the most "moderate" Imam is exponentially more hostile to homosexuality than the most conservative of priests. There's going to be friction. It will be interesting to see how the DoD manages it.

There’s already a shortage of chaplains.

I know one man who decided against joining the Army as a chaplain when he saw the writing on the wall with DADT. I suspect there are many others who have done the same.

He’ll find another way to serve our men and women.

What? So now it's going to be MANDATORY to be gay in the military?

;-)

There's a big difference between treating people (as people) in an amicable manner when they have done nothing offensive to you or others, and "respecting" a person's "lifestyle" when that "lifestyle" involves sexual perversion, which is disordered and abusive by definition.

Thi would be a wonderful teachable moment if this priest had some clue about what it is he's supposed to teach... :o(

Christian chaplains should have left the military when they were told not to pray in Jesus’s name. Homosexual tolerance and indoctrination shouldn’t be a problem for humanist chaplains peddling pop religion.

For you non-Catholics, beware anything from Albany. It has been run by Bishop Hubbard who cannot claim the mantle “Catholic”, as he has long been destroying the Church from within, much like Wade Rathke, or Vann Jones, or William Ayers, or Rev Wright etal etal etal having been working to overthrow our nation. This priest is one of Hubbard’s progeny it looks like.

This is a prelude to a purge of the military. Those who will not re-enlist because of this will be prevented from doing so under the guise of “stop-loss”. Then brought up on charges and given a dishonorable discharge. Now which existing article of UCMJ will apply to exercise such a purge? Or will the UCMJ need to be changed.
Next - political commissars - zampolits.

I went to originally went to seminary in the mid 90's to become a chaplain in the Air Force. I've been in 24 years now...and finished seminary in 2002 with my ThD. I did not enter the chaplain corps for this reason.

You do it and preach it the way they want...or you retire a Captain...if you retire at all...

It is amazing. Acceptance of the gay life in the military will doom the chaplain corp (the ones that really believe the gospel). Perhaps, all the chaplains will be from gay churches now. We are seeing our country destroyed from within. Obama is dancing in the WH.
