Wonderful!
Der Prinz auf Nerdz, my FReepless spouse, is a professional guitarist, and several of our children play or sing. Dad’s funeral will be a good show. I’ll invite JimRob, if he’s still kickin’, although I don’t expect him to make it from California to Florida for the occasion ;-); it’s the thought.
As a missionary for the LDS Church, I was asked to sing “I Come to the Garden Alone” as a solo at the funeral of a member of the Church who loved the song. As do I.
As a long time musician, having been sining all my life, including many many ward choirs, I can tell you that us heretic Mormons sing all kinds of music. Our hymnal contains some beautiful arraignments, but it’s not the end all, especially when it comes to performance arraignments.
Haha. Make that SINGING all my life.
Sining too, but that’s another thing... ;-)
And I thought that Pontius Pilot wore a helmet just like all pilots, only his had a crest on it.
So?
A gorilla's blood is RED; too!
(BTW; LDS ain't included into ANY 'christian' group other than by themselves; so don't get any ideas...)
Wake up and smell the brimstone!
Show...
Us...
CHRISTUS!!!!
Now now...
Don't call out Catholics on their TRADITIONS that ain't in the bible in this thread.
That is a MORMON tactic to get us CHRISTIANS fussin' among ourselves while they slip away relatively unschathed.
There it is. Brigham Young's doctrine of blood atonement. Still being sung by contemporary sAints.
Brand image. Lds realize they can either be drug down & go with the PR flow of fundamentalist Mormons, who Lds were socially & theologically in the 19th century, or they could "upgrade" to a "biggie size" religion (Christianity).
Gee. What a tough choice.
Well, if the Scientologists wanted to pretend that they, too, were Christian, I suppose they'd have songs in their hymnal like "It Came Upon the Midnight Clear" [get it...clear...Scientologists' "spiritual" goal is to become "clear"...well, I guess ya gotta understand Scientology to get it :) ]
I had a childhood friend who was really disappointed to find out that the choir wasn’t actually singing about her— Rosanna in the Highest.
I’ve been sinning most of my life, too ;-).
I have a CD of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing Patriotic Favorites. Fine arrangements, and it’s great to hear a choir with enough men in it!
Yet your church believes in works, not grace.
I do not believe that any of the Protestant originations were started by someone having authority from God.
Nor did smith have any 'authority from God' - so your point is?
It is my experience that reformers get together and decide what Gods word should mean and those of like mindedness form a separate Protestant group.
Do you hang out with reformers that much, been there with them. . . . . if not, your 'experience' is null and void.
All Protestant groups are formed by some man or men trying to correct something they see to be wrong with other religious groups.
And smith wasn't trying to do the same. . . . . pot talking to the kettle eh?
***Harry Anderson who is the most famous SDA artist.****
You are correct. I checked out that book from the local library not long ago. I guess Anderson illustrated so many books for Maxwell I got them confused.
I just noticed my copy of the BOM has what looks like an Anderson painting in the inside fly leaf. Then Arnold Friberg’s paintings on through.
With all the paintings Friberg did for the BOM one wonders why he never did show anyone riding a Tapir.
I have a section I tore from an April 1988 WESTERN HORSEMAN magazine about Friberg, and carried around an old calender painting of his from 1961.
