The Passion of the CHRIST [FULL MOVIE]
YouTube ^ | Jan 25, 2010

In The Passion: Photography from the Movie "The Passion of the Christ," Gibson says "This is a movie about love, hope, faith, and forgiveness. Jesus died for all mankind, suffered for all of us. It's time to get back to that basic message. The world has gone nuts. We could all use a little more love, faith, hope, and forgiveness."

He also explains one of his appearances in the film, the close-up of his hands nailing Jesus to the cross: "It was me that put Him on the cross. It was my sins that put Jesus there."

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16)

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new" (2Corinthians 5:17)

The video was posted in January of last year. I am honestly surprised that it is still on YouTube, but...

If you haven't seen the movie before, you should.

If you have seen the movie before, you should see it again.

IMHO,it is a very well done spiritually lifting show. We saw it in the movie theater (I dont go to many movies). The audience was deeply effected. We also have it dvd and watch it during Holy Week.

Tough movie to watch, I can see why people would not want to see it again every year in the same vein as say The Ten Commandments. I saw it just once the year it came out and haven’t done so since, it’s depressing.

I understand that there is a powerful CD or DVD out with three theologians discussing events as the movie progresses. Our men’s group is going to watch it this next week.

Owned it about four years before I got into the right frame of mind to watch it last Good Friday.

It is a brutal, grueling, stunning, beautiful, amazing film. An absolute masterpiece.

In the Director's cut version of the movie (DVD) one of the soundtracks has Mel Gibson and two theologians discussing the theological significance of the scenes as the movie plays. Very good. They point out lots of little things going on I would have otherwise missed. The most powerful movie ever made.

Thanks for the reminder, Mark. We have the movie at home, and I’m the only one to not have seen it. I’m going to try to view it this week, but I know it will make me sick and I will have to pause it from time to time to catch my breath. What we did our Lord was unforgivable, and yet he does just that and forgives.

It’s not depressing when you understand that Jesus paid in full the price for your salvation. That is the meaning of “It is finished!”

It just played on our local cable without commercials. The brutality was hard to take, but probably authentic for the times.

A little more set up or lead in might have been helpful for educating those who may not understand the full story. But, it will certainly make an impression on anyone who watches it.

Just watched it un-cut on the TBN Channel...Yes hard to watch, it stirs the deepest emotions within your heart with great sadness and pain, yet such love that we receive from GOD..

TBN will be playing it all week...

I thought I would have to take a number of breaks as well. Turns out, I could barely move through the entire presentation and well after the final credit rolled. Then I went into my office, closed the door and wept for at least ten minutes.

You’ll be amazing at what the film does to you.

Thanks for the comment WPTG. My kids, three of whom no longer attend Mass, all agreed with your assessment, however, I don’t know if they wept or not. As parents, I suppose we were hoping the film might bring them back to Church. Not so, net yet anyway. But maybe they’ll watch again with me.

It is truly hard to watch, but when one comes down to it, this is what REALLY HAPPENED, and unlike other movies about the life of Christ, not “sanitized”.
