... The threat of extermination is not empty. Since the collapse of Saddam Hussein's regime, more than half the country's Christian population has been forced by targeted violence to seek refuge abroad or to live away from their homes as internally displaced people. According to the Hammurabi Human Rights Organization, over 700 Christians, including bishops and priests, have been killed and 61 churches have been bombed. Seven years after the commencement of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Catholic Archbishop Louis Sako of Kirkuk reports: "He who is not a Muslim in Iraq is a second-class citizen. Often it is necessary to convert or emigrate, otherwise one risks being killed." This anti-Christian violence is sustained by a widespread culture of Muslim supremacism that extends far beyond those who pull the triggers and detonate the bombs. ...
To understand the mindset:

Ruff ruff!
A nation spends 1.5 trillion and the blood of many Christians to liberate a Islamic nation. The muzzies first order of business is to exterminate Christians. It makes perfect sense to me.
Well, that is what a Muslim is required to do. Subjugate, Convert or Kill all non-believers.- Tom
I’m surprised that each and every Christian in these nutty Arab countries doesn’t get the hell out of there and come to the U.S. I’d rather they be here than the scum crawling across our southern border.
What they need is an Exodus-type ships, filled to the rim with Christians (instead of Jews like in the movie). For them, I’d make room.
Surprisingly, when I was there three times between 02 - 07 and spoke to many Christians, about 90% of them Catholic, they related a different story to me. Most wore gold crucifixes around their necks, so there was no doubt they were Christian. In fact, that is how I knew they were. They lived in neighborhoods amoungst the muslims and told me it was pretty much a “live and let live” arrangement.
How times are changing, and certainly not for the better. This is not a good time to be an island of Christians in a sea of muslims, even in as secular a country as Iraq.
Pres. Bush was warned by many, including some on this forum, that Christians would be the biggest losers in a war. He didn’t care.

The fact is, the only people we "liberated" were the Islamic Fundamentalists (freed them the controls Saddam had in place) and the Iranians.
That's a piss-poor "liberation" if you ask me.
The fact is, George Bush and the neo-cons got it wrong in Iraq. And I'm not talking about the WMD bruhaha. I'm talking about the whole concept of bringing democracy to the Arab World.
It shows how little they knew/know about the Arab World.
It shows how little they knew/know about Islam.
The Iraq War was a strategic blunder. And I am not a Libertarian. And I am not a pacifist. And I strongly supported the war at the time. My only excuse is, I wasn't a national leader. I had no reason to know better. Now, though I still lack any position of leadership, I believe I know better.
Bush f*'d up. Badly.
Not only did he set up the Iranians as kings of the area, not only did he set up the Christians to be purged and possibly exterminated, but he set up the USA to elect our first Marxist Muslim Kenyan President.
No Iraq war; no Kenyan King of America.
You make great points. Then, there was Christian Serbia which we reduced to rubble under Clinton. This allowed the back door entry of the muzzies into Europe. We appear to be “making the world safe for Islamic Jihad”.
