Jason Ertola, a Navy SEAL from 1992-1996, said any SEAL could see right through Moats' fraudulent story. Anyone who had spent any serious time in the military can pick out these pathetic creatures in less than 30 seconds. His poor kids were probably in denial...

Given the number of living current and former SEALS vs the population of the US, your chances of every meeting one are about one in 250,000. Simple rule of thumb, if someone claims to be a SEAL, you can safely assume he’s lying unless he shows written proof, and that means an unaltered DD 214 form.

"He also noted that bogus claims similar to Moats' have increased since the death of bin Laden."
I bet in drinking establishments and dance halls all across America, women were serenaded with boast of "I am a Navy SEAL and was involved in the Osama raid. But please, only keep this between you and me, ya know, covert stuff and all, I can't tell you everything (Intrigue, the carrot on a stick to trick her into bed). You seem to be the trusting type and feel like the weight of the world has been lifted off me by telling you this."

I was never a SEAL but they were my taxi service one summer. Just riding in one of their boats was punishing. The scariest thing about claiming to be a seal is wondering if I would accidently run into one on the street.
You can not tell by looking either. They were always scruffy and I swear they stick out their gut on purpose, just so you do not realize how fit they are.

Well History tells us there were less than 500 Seals that served during Vietnam era and I think I have personally met all 50,000 of them.

Let's face it, most of our lives aren't too exciting and hearing about others dangerous deeds in faraway places kind of takes the thrill out of mowing the grass and making sure plastic is recycled.
However..........a lie is still a lie.

There is another side to this story. I am a veteran and have encountered tough talking guys whose service may or may not be of the character they are quick to tell you about and judge yours by. I don’t care if you were the meanest mf in the valley, the character of your service does not grant automatic privilege to denigrate or question that of someone you whose service you think is inferior to your own. Liars and bullies are everywhere and I question anyone who cannot honor the character of one’s military service.... which, by the way, can only be truthfully discussed in the company of those with whom one served.

I once knew a Navy Seal. At the time I knew him he was an ex-Navy Seal. Nice guy. You would never have known he was a Seal. Didn't seem like anything more than an ordinary guy.

Truthfully the honorable thing would be for the Pastor to step down. You can’t “shepherd a flock” if the “sheep” don’t know when you’re telling the truth. This has become a trust issue.

I am a former F-4/F-16 pilot. Once I was having dinner with a group of friends who brought a new guy along. He started spouting off about how he had flown F-16’s in the USAF. I perked up and asked him a couple of Q’s and it became painfully obvious that he was full of Sh#$. I warned my friend who was considering doing business with the fraud. He went ahead anyway and lost his shirt to a fraudulent deal. I tried.

I was personally burned by a guy who posed as a World War Two paratrooper in Normandy. He was so convincing that my platoon marched to his home calling cadence near St. Mere Eglise. As Airborne soldiers we were in awe of this man and hung on every word he said. Imagine my surprise when I did a search for him and found out he was a fraud. His name is Howard Manoian and I had the misfortune of being conned by this guy.
Here is a link that covers his story.

I was a Navy Seal. I’d been shot at many times. I had completed about 8 missions. I would have completed more, but the controller for my PlayStation broke.
